Back in 2007 here's what the GMB had to say about the police during their pay dispute:
Rehana Azam, GMB National Officer at the negotiations said, “The joint trade unions are asking the Home Secretary not to undo the good work the government has done over the last ten years to achieve a unified law enforcement workforce".
Workers in uniform comrades, workers in uniform.

After they were praised by the Lindsey wildcats it looks like it's back to class collaborationist business as usual for the GMB bigwigs.

Not many people wanted to see us seem to start a fight with the nazis with families there in front of the worlds press so thats the reasoning behind his actions.

unusual of the police...

This whole situation seems strange to me - is this behind a proper police line? If so, why is there our camera people there? Can someone fill in a bit more context about this particular point.
Don't get me wrong, who ever's in the GMB jacket has some serious questions to answer, and I do not believe it is photoshopped or some situationist stunt (really folks...), but the whole thing is a bit weird with just this to go on.

To be honest - If it was me, I would have made this pic my Facebook profile pic - just for the laugh of it. - He is not really "Collaborating" with the police. The whole thing is just a joke.

As a committed anti-fascist with 20 years experience - I can honestly say that this OLD AGE PENSIONER is not the enemy- we must leave him alone.
personally I think that the pic was a bit of a joke, he spotted a photo opportunity and went for it - good on him - ha ha.
If he was genuinely trying to help the police (which I doubt) then - lets be honest - it was not alot of help.
Ha Ha - great pic.
Lets leave it at that.

oh come off it !!! LOL
25.08.2009 23:08
You say that he is "actually helping the police contain a crowd" - come off it - you are having a laugh - have you ever seen the police go wild ? - I have
There is no way he is actually providing any serious help whatsoever.
He is either some joker that posed for the camera - or a mixed up OAP - either way he is NOT the enemy.
Get real and focus your attentions onto the real enemy - the far-right.
Leave this guy alone. - Like I said if anyone has a go at this OAP then I will have a word with you, and you might not like what I have to say.
realist
You what?

Doesn't look like a pose, holding back a crowd of antifascists doesn't seem like a joke.
"And if anyone ever accepts the charge of 'Collaborating with the Police' and deals this OAP any violence, then I will personally track you down and straighten things out."
If this OAP stood in my way, using force against me to prevent me from reaching a fascist gathering, I would defend myself and use force in return. If he didn't try and stop me with force then we both wouldn't have a problem - I'd walk past him and their would be no issue.
I'm guessing you're not going to track down anybody the OAP was violent towards then? Just because somebody may be of a different sex, race or age, etc, it doesn't pacify me.
"As a committed anti-fascist with 20 years experience - I can honestly say that this OLD AGE PENSIONER is not the enemy- we must leave him alone."
Anyone becomes the enemy when they try to control you and defend fascists, OAP or not.
You might find this all a hilarious joke, probably because you have never genuinely been threatened by fascists. They have violently attacked me so I don't find this funny at all.
"you might not like what I have to say." - I really don't give a shit what you think or say.
Anti-fascism is not a fucking joke, its a bloody war. Anybody defending fascists is a target.

oh really?

@narchist
ask derby gmb for an explanation
27.08.2009 18:14
shows .So there could be an innocent explanation. It would be good if somebody from Derby contacted the GMB for a comment.
