EIR has previously received reports that Daschle advised the President to drop his ambitious health plan altogether, only to be rejected.
It is perhaps a sign of the times, and the President's increasing vulnerability, that the Post prominently included in the article, the fact that Daschle is serving as an adviser, through his membership in the law firm Alston and Bird, to United Health Group, one of the largest health insurance companies. The Post quotes an Administration official saying this is no conflict of interest with the President's "reform" package. In fact, they are right—because the proposed Hitler health bill is shaped to protect the insurance companies' mega-profits, while cutting off care for millions.
That's not the way Obama and Daschle would put it—but that's the truth.
