Comrades,
We bear tragic news from here in Chile.
During the early morning of May 22, we lost our beloved comrade Mauricio Morales Duarte. According to the bourgeois press, Mauricio was transporting an explosive device in downtown Santiago. The device exploded unexpectedly, and our comrade died in combat.
Long live comrade Mauricio Morales! Mauricio joins the list of fallen combatants under the democratic regime in Chile. He was a dedicated and militant anarchist. We remember Mauricio as a youth combatant like so many before him.
Over the last three years, there have been countless non-lethal and low intensity attacks on capital across Chile. These attacks have often fallen near the anniversaries of various days of combat, and they have occurred without arrests.
Police are currently searching for a second person present at the scene of Mauricio's death. They are also raiding various anarchist squats across Santiago.

Man who transported homemade bomb dies by explosion in downtown Santiago
The detonation occurred this morning, while the individual circled near the School of Prison Guards, located on Avenue Matta.
Santiago.-Dead and severely mutilated by an explosion: this was the result this morning of a man who transported a homemade bomb in downtown Santiago.
The subject traveled by bicycle towards the School of Prison Guards, located on Avenue Matta, when close to 1:30 in the morning, the artifact detonated. According to radio Bío-Bío, it was made of a fire extinguisher--filled with gun powder—that the subject transported in a backpack.
Inhabitants in the area awoke, because of the loud noise. When arriving at the area of the explosion, they saw with horror the dismembered body of the subject, without hands and legs, and with a burned face.
Police cordoned off the area, searching for human remains in a radius of seventy meters, while they investigated the identity of the victim and the characteristics of the bomb. After five hours of analysis by specialists, they believe that the man was an adult, and he may have wanted to attack the School of the Prison Guards.
In addition to the homemade bomb, a .38 caliber revolver was also found on the deceased. According to the reports, before the explosion, a telephone call was made to the School of the Prison Guards altered of a possible attack.

lol, its not the army! If you want to be a soldier join the army. And i dont think he "died in combat". Combat is bare chested 1 on 1 fighting. He was in a garden shed mixing some chemicals, thats not combat
And what the heck was he doing with a bomb and a gun? Sounds like its a good thing he has stopped himself causing other people harm.

I understand the words clearly. I'm just not a mug to believe everything i read like you are.
Just because people use words like comrade / anarchist / fighting the system, doesn't automatically make them nice people.
"A bomb and a gun".... seems pretty lethal and high intensity to me considering he blew his own arms and legs off
And just before i don't like individuals going around carrying bombs and guns - that makes me a "cop lover" !? Get a life before some terrorist snuffs it out for you. Some of the worst crimes are made in the 'name of freedom'.

A car can kill if used in the wrong way, that doesn't mean all car drivers are scumbags. If used responsibly, like it sounds was happening in Chile, bombs and guns can be excellent tools for fighting authoritarianism.
You are very ready to criticize those who attack the state, how about some criticism of violence by the state?
Whether or not you ideologically support the state, the state needs people like you to propagandize and snipe at the brave people who stand up to it. That's why I called you a cop lover.

an explanation

Someone walking around with a bomb and a gun who isn't clearly isn't qualify to do so safely obviously didn't care about hurting innocent people. If he devalued his own life so much, it is a fair assumption that he also devalued that of others.
Those others could be people like me. Consider the IRA bomb in manchester that didn't hurt anyone. Well i was a bit close for comfort. What if that bomb had gone off 'accidentially' like our friend on the moped's did? How many innocent people would be snuffed out because of a few people's mad ideologies.
Your analogy is using a car correctly is a bit of hogwash. Loads of people know who to use a car correctly and they still kill lots of people. Imagine what something designed TO kill people is like if used INCORRECTLY. This guy clearly didn't have a clue how to use a bomb otherwise he wouldn't have blown himself into fillet steaks. He thought he knew what he was doing but didn't.
It would be a bit late to be saying "sorry i killed you with my bomb" after the fact because at the end of the day once you are dead thats it.... and there is no amount of so called remorse or saying sorry that puts your molecules back together again.
So if he feels that way about innocent people's lives like me..... then I feel justified about my feelings toward him and his like.
I'd like to ask you a question if I may:
If a wild eyed nutter stood next to you on a train saying "I've got a bomb, but don't worry im not going to set it off yet". Would you feel comfortable and relaxed or would you shit your pants?

"Your analogy is using a car correctly is a bit of hogwash. Loads of people know who to use a car correctly and they still kill lots of people. Imagine what something designed TO kill people is like if used INCORRECTLY"
That is my exact point, people know how to use a car correctly and still have accidents. A car is a tool, just like a bomb is. Both have their uses and both have their risks.
Since there had been many previous bomb attacks with no loss of life, we might assume this guy was fairly proficient in using bombs safely and effectively. But no one is perfect and accidents do happen. This is no different than some pacifist hippy having an accident in their car and killing themselves on the way to a peaceful demonstration.
And the fact that no-one else was injured in the accident suggests he was careful not to endanger innocent life by transporting it on a crowded bus or suchlike.
If a wild-eyed nutter drove towards you saying "I've got a car but don't worry I'm not going to run you over" would you feel comfortable and relaxed?
What if you lived near a conflict zone and a pilot from the Air Force said they had a bomb on their aeroplane but not to worry because they weren't going to drop it near you?
Out of interest, what is your general political viewpoint if you don't mind me asking? Are you a pacifist or do you think the use of violence is sometimes justified? What about destruction of property?
Do you generally go along with the Indymedia ideology of opposing hierarchies of power?
