Two activists from the wdail march followed the thug and attempted to rescue the dog twice but the man was violent and the dog was scared. The dog kept running from the man and was trying to hide on several occasions. Eventually the police who were monitoring the march noticed what was going on and came over to help save the dog.
It took over ten officers to restrain the man who was physically strong even though he was very drunk, special restraints had to be used. A female officer was kicked in the head.
The dog has been saved and is at the RSPCA.

is someone keeping tabs with the RSPCA about the dog, making sure it's not put down, or returned to the owner?

I don't think that many activists would have just ignored abuse...

I can understand your frustration, and I agree. Not one person should have turned a blind eye to something so awful. Well done to you guys for helping the dog.

I personally didn't see this or hear about it on the day.
What's the point of being an animal rights activist and letting something like that happen?! I very much doubt people turned a blind eye if this really did happen. Maybe somebody likes to stir up trouble..
