WDAIL March - Dog saved by 2 activists and the police on WDAIL March today.

Activist From WDAIL March. | 25.04.2009 21:59 | Animal Liberation | South Coast | World

A little dog was saved today by two animal rights activists and the police in Hyde Park during wdail. Activists noticed that a man was violently abusing the little dog and while most [disgustingly...nearly ALL....] the animal rights activists just walked by muttering that "somebody should do something" and "someone should take the dog" and joined the march - two ladies tailed the thug who was trying to fight with men and abuse the dog.

The man was lashing out at the dog and at other people including families and young men.

Two activists from the wdail march followed the thug and attempted to rescue the dog twice but the man was violent and the dog was scared. The dog kept running from the man and was trying to hide on several occasions. Eventually the police who were monitoring the march noticed what was going on and came over to help save the dog.
It took over ten officers to restrain the man who was physically strong even though he was very drunk, special restraints had to be used. A female officer was kicked in the head.

The dog has been saved and is at the RSPCA.

at least no one got sent down like Sarah for this!
is someone keeping tabs with the RSPCA about the dog, making sure it's not put down, or returned to the owner?

WDAIL = World Day for Animals In Laboratories.

There was an animal rights march in London today to mark the international World Day for Laboratory Animals.

I don't think that many activists would have just ignored abuse...

I went to the march and didn't see the dog getting abused. Had I seen this i would have taken action immediately. And I'm sure MOST of the people on the march would have done the same. It is doubtful that around 1,000 activists simply walked past a dog being abused! Did you see that many walk past the dog?

I can understand your frustration, and I agree. Not one person should have turned a blind eye to something so awful. Well done to you guys for helping the dog.

what a load of toss!

I personally didn't see this or hear about it on the day.

What's the point of being an animal rights activist and letting something like that happen?! I very much doubt people turned a blind eye if this really did happen. Maybe somebody likes to stir up trouble..
