Raphael & Oluseye have left the UK
"I am sorry to have to report that, despite everyone's efforts, Raphael & Oluseye were taken from Yarl's Wood and put on a flight to Lagos yesterday morning. Five-year -old Raphael spent 69 days in immigration detention. Thank you all for all your support for mother and son."

Sri Lanka: Barbed wire villages raise fears of refugee concentration camps
Sri Lanka was accused yesterday of planning concentration camps to hold 200,000 ethnic Tamil refugees from its northeastern conflict zone for up to three years - and seeking funding for the project from Britain.

Self-Harm in Immigration Detention 4th Quarter Oct/Nov/Dec 2008

[Incidents of serious self-harm for the whole of 2008 was up 14% on 2007

Formal Self-Harm at Risk down 8.5% in 2008 compared to 2007]

You asked for figures on self-harm in immigration detention for the months of October, November and December 2008 inclusive under the following headings:

1) Number of individuals on formal self-harm at risk.
2) Number on incidents of self-harm requiring medical treatment.
3) Number of deaths if any.

In: Campsfield House, Colnbrook, Dover, Dungavel, Harmondsworth, Haslar, Lindholme, Oakington, Tinsley House, Yarl's Wood, IRC's and any Short Term Holding Centres.

Your request falls to be dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

The information requested is in the tables below and I can confirm that there were no deaths in any of the centres or Short-Term Holding Facilities during this period.
