There are plans to build a vast high level virus containment facility and animal testing lab on a Camden council house estate alongside St Pancras International behind the British Library. The threat of virus leak from this lab is very real. Foot and Mouth disease was leaked from a similar government facility Pirbright in Surrey. The backers behind the lab are the MRC, Wellcome Trust, UCL, and CRUK. Scientists from the NIMR breached confidentiality to speak out against the lab to the Camden New Journal. The lab will hold thousands of animlas and there is achance that animlas will be delivered to the lab from abroad via St Pancras International which will cause considerable disruption as aresult of protests etc from Animal Rights activists and other protesters.
Contaminated tissue would also be transported through a built up residential and business district posing arisk to the public. As the lab could be a level 3 lab this means that it could contain deadly pathogens such as anthrax and Bird Flu.
