Dear ......
Mr Brown hopes you will understand that, as the matters you raise are the responsibility of both the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Home Office. He has asked that your letter be forwarded to those Departments so that they may reply direct on his behalf.

As you can imagine, Mr Brown receives thousands of letters each week and regrets he cannot reply personally to them all.
I have been asked to forward your letter to the Department of Health so that they may reply to you direct.

Re : Proposed MEdical Research Centre, Brill Place London NW1
1. Thank you for your letter to the Prime Minister which was received in this office on 7 May 2008 regarding a new Medical Research Centre planned for Camden. Your letter has been passed to the Government Office For London as we deal with planning matters and I have been asked to reply.
2. I should point out that the Government's general approach is not to interfere with the jurisdiction of the local planning authority unless it is necessary to do so. Parliament has entrusted them with the responsibility for day to day planning control in their areas and it is right that, in general, they should be free to carry out their duties responsibility {sic} with the minimum of interference.
3. As I understand it, the proposed outline for the redevelopment of this site has a requirement for a mixed scheme including housing. The Government recognises that every opportunity should be explored to increase the delivery of housing and note that the outline planning agreement for this site includes the provision of housing and has set at least 50% affordable target which is in line with it's proposals set out in the recent Housing Green Paper. That said the site has been sold without planning permission and the final decision for the development of the site will need to comply with the local planning authority policies. .....
{We do not have the rest of this letter unfortunately}.
The consortium behind the lab led by the Medical Research Council have said that they have no such plans for housing of any description.
As we have already said the consortium plan to apply for planning permission early next year. We at London Against Camden Danger Lab plan to hold Art exhibitions showing how the lab will affect the area, the animals ans the people of Camden.
You can use any medium, drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography etc....maybe using recycled materials.
We will not display any threatening images towards anyone involved in the lab or their associates or families :
Those involved in building the lab include :
Medical Research Council
Wellcome Trust
University College London
