Foxy ladies

22.10.2008 21:48

I hope all the delectable ladies who attended this demo experience as full and satisfying a sex life as they desire. I just wish they wouldn't go around contemplating or condoning the 'termination' of the next generation of babies / children / feminists / activists / teachers / nurses / freemasons (investment bankers / hedge fund managers / politicians / police officers / crown prosecutors / judges) just because they can't be arsed to pop a pill or use a rubber johnny. We've already got the likes of Gordon Brown / David Miliband / John Hutton / Peter Mandelson to murder babies and children with their imperialist warfare, uranium munitions and nuclear power. I sense I'm going off on a tangent, so I'd better stop now.

genius placard slogans

23.10.2008 12:09

"If you cut off my reproductive choice, can I cut off yours?" and "If you don't believe in abortion, have a vasectomy"

Nice work girls.

keep your rosaries off my ovaries

23.10.2008 20:34

In reality, abortion as contraception is an urban myth spread by pro-lifers; abortions are traumatic experiences and no one would rather have a doctor scrape the inside of their womb/feed them drugs that will pass the fetus out of her system rather than use a condom or the pill. It's usually a last resort, and a much better one than an unwanted/abandoned baby- plus what with the NHS a chance for a free, clean abortion is available rather than girls having to save up for an extortionate fee and then receiving substandard- if legal- care, as a friend of mine in South Africa suffered through recently. And being a middle-class white girl, she received far better care than the more desperate, poor black girls.

We should consider ourselves lucky to live in a society where abortions are legal, available, and of decent medical standards- and should protect those rights while we can.

"keep your rosaries off my ovaries"

Shouldn't embryonic humans / foetuses have rights too?

23.10.2008 21:30

"It's usually a last resort, and a much better one than an unwanted/abandoned baby"

Excuse my ignorance, but are there not many childless couples out there who would love to adopt an 'unwanted baby'?

In these enlightened times, I look forward to the day when 'pro-choicers' get a law allowing mothers to smother their offspring at birth. It's their baby after all, and far better than abandoning them on the street. Hurrah for democracy.

Note to IMC moderators: Just presenting another side to the argument here. No need to hide this comment and others like it just because your own opinion may differ.

Not a Christian fundamentalist, but allegedly a moron

And again

24.10.2008 09:22

Why have 4 anti abortion comments been removed from here? Is freedom of speech not allowed? Contraception not killing unborn children.

"Excuse my ignorance, but are there not many childless couples out there who would love to adopt an 'unwanted baby'? "

That is not a reason to force someone to have an unwanted baby. Besides, if they're that fucking loving, why aren't they adopting those kids out there who really need a home? That's right, because they wouldn't get a cute little baby to show their friends. God forbid you guys have to start behaving a bit more like Jesus and a bit less like Paul.

"In these enlightened times, I look forward to the day when 'pro-choicers' get a law allowing mothers to smother their offspring at birth. It's their baby after all, and far better than abandoning them on the street. Hurrah for democracy."

And I look forward to the day when bullshit 'slippery slope' claims actually pass for a reasoned argument. Unfortunately, that day is not today. Next time you come up with something witty like that, you might want to check that it can't be turned around against you. How about we let 'pro-lifers' start having teenage boys arrested for genocide on the basis that every sperm was a potential life. Hurrah for Christianity.

"Note to IMC moderators: Just presenting another side to the argument here. No need to hide this comment and others like it just because your own opinion may differ. "

I agree. Stupidity should always be exposed and countered.

"Not a Christian fundamentalist, but allegedly a moron"

It was only "alleged" until you opened your mouth. Seriously, you might as well have signed off with "I'm not a racist, but..." because you're basically saying "I don't want to have to defend my position against any critical analysis, I just want to be able to tell you all that I'm right and you're wrong."

angry

24.10.2008 17:59

Dear me, what an angry person, everyone is allowed their opnion surely without you having to revert to swearing and insults? The vast majority of abortions and not due to rape and many are done to women who have had abortions before. I think you ought to look at statistics. If you don't want a child use contraception not killing innocent unborn sentient beings. We don't have a choice about killing children that are already born, we call the murder, just because they are unborn doesn't make it right.

K

k - you nicked my name

25.10.2008 10:03

to the author of comments entitled "and again" and "angry": why put yourself down as "k" when a different person previously posted a comment under this name? Also re "If you don't want a child use contraception" fair point, but you have to except that in the real world (unlike where you live in lala land) shit happens, like split condoms, contraceptive pill fails, people have sex when they're drunk, and school kids tell each other "you can't get pregnant the first time". Abortion is a fact of life, it's always happened, ever since ancient times when women ate poisonous flowers to abort unwanted babies. Making abortion illegal is dangerous, all over the world women are dying because anti abortion legislation forces them to seek dangerous, illegal, back street abortions. So much for anti abortionists calling themselves "pro-life", what about the lives of these women? Would you rather they die after an illegal abortion, then give them the right to have a free, safe, legal, abortion?
