TO PUBLIC OPINION
TO THE PEOPLE OF MEXICO AND THE WORLD
Those of us who collaborate in the indigenous community radio project TOTOPO, transmitting on 102.5 FM; DECLARE
That we are a community radio project, exercising our constitutional right to free expression of our original language DIIDXAZÄ. That we believe we can make possible the regeneration of our ancestral culture, and so vindicate the Accords of San Andrés de los Pobres, Chiapas. For two years now we have been constructing this space of free, alternative and community communication, resisting the attacks of the businessmen who get rich converting the airwaves into merchandise and today in the face of threats to deploy the Federal Preventive Police (PFP) against our radio in order to shut us up.
WE DENOUNCE HUMBERTO LOPEZ LENA as having direct responsibility for the repression against ourselves AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HEADED BY FECAL (Felipé Calderón), THE SPURIOUS STATE GOVERNMENT OF “URO” (Ulises Ruiz Ortiz) AND THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF JUCHITAN, OAXACA, ACCOMPLICE TO THIS VILENESS.
To this we say; we will not hide, on the contrary, our radio remains open. We continue with our community work, at the heart of our beloved seventh section, where our neighbours, housewives, elderly, children, artisans, and conscious teachers meet to protect our radio. OUR RADIO IS ON ‘MAMIMUM ALERT’. We draw a line between us and those radios that in Juchitan and the surrounding region have left behind the community spirit forged in the din of social struggle in order to begin projects for heir personal financial gain. We set ourselves apart from the network of radios of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec: WE ARE A SEPERATE PROJECT.
We request the solidarity of conscious people, that they will continue demonstrating against the repression suffered by us in this struggle.
END THE CRIMINALISATION OF THE SOCIAL STRUGGLE
FREEDOM FOR ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS
END THE REPRRESSION AGAINST COMMUNITY RADIOS
LONG LIVE THE EZLN
LONG LIVE THE APPO
