Singing as an Act of Terrorism

kto-to | 30.06.2008 11:05 | Palestine | Repression | South Coast | World

You should have been there.

At Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations in London yesterday the police
demonstrated a 'zero tolerance' approach to any act of protest. 6 people
were arrested for various attempted pro-Palestinian protests (more
later) and one woman was assaulted then handcuffed by the police after
singing Happy Birthday (c) with her own lyrics - see attached video. She
was questioned by the police under the Prevention of Terrorism Act but
later released.
So a warning to all terrorists who want to evade capture: leave the
megaphone at home!

thank you

can't make it out...

i couldn't quite make it out, is that somebody calling her a "terrorist cow" or does she call somebody that? Quite bizarre to see the whole thing on video. It's quite a friendly, fluffy kinda protest and they jump on her as if she might single-handedly undo the state of Israel. Maybe they mistook her megaphone for a ray gun or something sci-fi like that...

"the video won't work"

More information would be useful. Like what software you tried to use to play this video and what happened when you tried to play it.

I can understand how some people might have problems playing various formats - different software can support different formats. This video uses AAC format for sound which is standards-based but requires a patent to produce software (legally). On the other hand I personally find Youtube does not work well on my computer. I suspect there is currently no perfect solution that would suit everyone. AAC format for sound might also be good for anyone using an Apple iPod, because I think it is the default format on that hardware.

Just to say that although it may have looked like it, I wasn't actually handcuffed, though I thought they were going to.....Hopefully we'll soon have some stills we can add to this.

I've been spending a while looking for this video and thought it was going to be linked to the other article on these actions:  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/06/402208.html

How disappointing for you, dear. And for me, of course. I really love all that bondage stuff; it brings out the Max Mosely in me. Did you wear your stripy pyjamas?
