ElBaradei: Iran Not After the Bomb

Oppose US/Israeli Neo-Fascism, Aggression | 21.05.2008 02:54 | Anti-militarism | World

Unfortunately, anything ElBaradei says will be discarded or belittled by the US and Israel.

They may even try the same slimy tactics they used on his predecessor Hans Blix, where they attempted to smear him to discredit what he had to say professionally about Iraq not having WMDS.

Hans Blix was absolutely telling the truth; ElBaradei is doing the same with Iran.

But for the US and Israel, it is a very iinconvenient truth.

ElBaradei: Iran not after bomb
Tue, 20 May 2008 13:47:19

The UN nuclear watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei has once again highlighted the lack of evidence to prove Iran is after a nuclear bomb.

Speaking at a session of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, ElBaradei reiterated the International Atomic Energy Agency has no evidence that Iran is seeking to develop an atomic bomb.

"We haven't seen indications or any concrete evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon and I've been saying that consistently for the last five years," ElBaradei asserted.

He said that the issue of Iran's nuclear standoff with the West is a problem of trust.

(It's actually a 'problem' that Extremists in the US and Israel are attempting to again feign a justification for a war against this country, as they've planned for years. Their problem is that they were caught LYING about Iraq, in order to start an illegal war, and nobody believes them this time around.)

The IAEA boss referred to a December 3 joint assessment by 16 US spy agencies, which conceded that Tehran is not running a nuclear weapons program, and said that the US intelligence report agreed with his agency's assessment on Iran's nuclear program.

ElBaradei also criticized US President George W. Bush's remarks at the forum and suggested that the US hold direct talks with Iran in order to resolve the long-drawn-out standoff over the country's nuclear program.

(But the 'standoff' has nothing to do with nuclear weapons. It's about creating the illusion of a threat, in order to allow these Fascist whack-jobs to start another illegal war of aggression.)

"If you need to resolve an issue, you need to see where people are coming from," said ElBaradei. "We should have learned from now that dialogue, not isolation, is the way to move forward."

Iran has repeatedly stated that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it is entitled to enriching uranium, which will provide fuel for the country's under-construction nuclear power plants.

(And this is true.)

However, the US president's flagrant disregard for international reports on Iran indicates his determination to drum up support for an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic.

"I have said Iran is dangerous, and the NIE estimate doesn't do anything to change my opinion about the danger Iran poses to the world - quite the contrary," Bush said in response to the release of the US National Intelligence Estimate.

(Insanity!)

IAEA has no evidence on Iran''s building nuclear arms - ElBaradei

Politics 5/19/2008 8:42:00 PM

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, May 19 (KUNA) -- Mohammad El-Baradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said here Monday the UN nuclear watchdog has no evidence proving that Iran was building a nuclear bomb, but affirmed that the Iranian nuclear file was part of security of region.

"We are saying that (we have no evidence about Iran's manufacturing of nuclear bomb) and we can't know the intentions of Iran in future," El-Baradei addressed a World Economic Forum's (WEF) session about new strategies to achieve stability.

He said the Arab countries must cooperate to tackle problems in the Middle East without foreign interference.

He said the Arab-Israeli conflict, which has been over 60 years old now, was the core issue of Middle East troubles.

Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abul Gheit, meanwhile, said Iran was not the sole country possessing nuclear capabilities.

He said ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, as well as establishing Palestinian and Israeli state was in the hands of the Jewish state.

Abul Gheit criticized the further building of Jewish settlements in occupied Palestinian territories even after the US-sponsored Annapolis conference. (end)

White House denies Iran attack report
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF

The White House on Tuesday flatly denied an Army Radio report that claimed US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term. It said that while the military option had not been taken off the table, the administration preferred to resolve concerns about Iran's push for a nuclear weapon "through peaceful diplomatic means."

(Bush said this same thing - word for word - right up until the week he illegally attacked Iraq.)

Army Radio had quoted a top official in Jerusalem claiming that a senior member in the entourage of President Bush, who visited Israel last week, had said in a closed meeting here that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action against Iran was called for.

(The number of US officials visiting Israeli Extremists, coconspirators in the plot against Iran (and Iraq, Afghanistan) - behind closed doors the past few weeks is truly troubling.)

The official reportedly went on to say that, for the time being, "the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice" was preventing the administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic.

The Army Radio report, which was quoted by The Jerusalem Post and resonated widely, stated that according to assessments in Israel, the recent turmoil in Lebanon, where Hizbullah has established de facto control of the country, was advancing an American attack.

(Insider reports actually say the opposite, and that a planned American-Israeli attack upon Lebanon was actually prevented because of Hizbullah's actions.)

Bush, the official reportedly said, considered Hizbullah's show of strength evidence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's growing influence. In Bush's view, the official said, "the disease must be treated - not its symptoms."

(But again, Bush's statements are just more of the same LIES intended to feign a 'crisis', enabling him and the rest of the Neo-Fascists to start yet another disastrous war.)

However, the White House on Tuesday afternoon dismissed the story. In a statement, it said that "[the US] remain[s] opposed to Iran's ambitions to obtain a nuclear weapon. To that end, we are working to bring tough diplomatic and economic pressure on the Iranians to get them to change their behavior and to halt their uranium enrichment program."

(We know this is bullsh*t because Iran is NOT even trying to do this, and the entire meme has been created towards the end of another illegal war.)

It went on: "As the president has said, no president of the United States should ever take options off the table, but our preference and our actions for dealing with this matter remain through peaceful diplomatic means. Nothing has changed in that regard."

(Again, look at White House statements from the weeks leading up to the Iraq crime.)

In an interview last week in the Oval Office, Bush told the Post that "Iran is an incredibly negative influence" and "the biggest long-term threat to peace in the Middle East," but that the US was "pushing back hard and will continue to do so."

(In reality, the US and its 'ally', Israel, currently under the rule of violent, unrestrained Extremism, are the biggest long and short-term threats to peace in the ME. Orwell was right ...)

He noted that "Iran is involved in funding Hamas and Hizbullah, and it's that Iranian influence which I'm deeply concerned about. But there needs to be more than just the United States concerned about it."

(The US is involved in funding real Terrorist networks throughout the ME, not to mention the war against the Palestinian People.)

Bush said: "We take [seriously] this issue of [Iran] getting the technology, the know-how on how to develop a nuclear weapon."

(Note the shifting statements from these warmongers and war criminals. As was the case when their LIES about Iraq were refuted, now they're simply trying to Frame the acquisition of knowledge as reason for war.)

"All options are on the table," he said, but, "Of course you want to try to solve this problem diplomatically."

(Bush the Lesser, a day before invading Iraq ...)

Asked whether the Iranians would be deterred from their nuclear drive by the time he left office, Bush told the Post: "What definitely will be done [before I leave office will be the establishment of] a structure on how to deal with this, to try to resolve this diplomatically. In other words sanctions, pressures, financial pressures. You know, a history of pressure that will serve as a framework to make sure other countries are involved."

(The Post should have pointed out that there is no such drive, since the only "drive" at play here is the 'drive' of these sociopaths and Fascists for another illegal war.)

Days later, in his address to the Knesset, Bush said that "the president of Iran dreams of returning the Middle East to the Middle Ages" and "America stands with you in firmly opposing Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions."

(Proving that these whack-jobs live entirely in a world of fantasy, and this poses the greatest threat to the world as a whole ...)

"Permitting the world's leading sponsor of terror to possess the world's deadliest weapon would be an unforgivable betrayal of future generations. For the sake of peace, the world must not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon," he said.

(Iran? I thought he was talking about the USA ... Iran isn't trying to build a nuclear weapon. They want power to satisfy their growing energy needs, and since Bush/PNAC's illegal policies have created an energy disaster (not for them, who profit from this), this is more urgent than ever.

The largest threat to the region doesn't come from Iran: it comes from Israel's success in having had the US "neutralize" countries which it believes to be an existential threat to it's existence. However, there's just one little problem with this approach concerning Iran. Russia's diplomats have stated unequivocally that any attack against Iran will be perceived as an attack on Russia.
