Mel Broughton remanded...was he set up? [www.vpsg.org/] SPEAK

Maverick | 15.12.2007 00:21 | Animal Liberation | Bio-technology | Repression | World

Mel Broughton from SPEAK has been arrested and remanded on charges of arson, conspiracy to blackmail and possession of explosives.
Thames Valley police have carried out a dirty war against SPEAK. [As was proven in court when a secret recording was played].

Mel Broughton has been charged and remanded [14th December].
Thames Valley police have been waging a war using smear campaigns and dirty tactics against SPEAK.
A dictaphone recording was played in court....police were heard plotting against Animal Rights activists. They were heard trying to recruit members of the public to create "incidents" so that AR activists could be arrested....the plots even included bizarre ideas involving baabies buggies, which could have endangered children.
Mel has been charged with arson, possession of explosives and conspiracy to blackmail.
Conspiracy to blackmail is being used to stifle legitimate protest....will this "blackmail" extend to newspapers...BBC Watchdog...etc?

Support Mel Broughton!
Mel is loved, admired and respected by everyone in the Animal Rights.
Support Mel!

One of NETCU's main objectives is purportedly to "round up the ringleaders" of effective animal rights groups ie SHAC, SPEAK, SSAT in the name of protecting the profits that are derived from the torture and killing of other sentient beings attributed to the various 'institutions' the afformentioned campaigns campaign against.

In other words the neu labour sanctioned NETCU police team are hell bent on 'criminalising' all peaceful protest directed against this type of 'institution' accusing peaceful protest of "interfering" with the day to day profit margin derived from the torture and killing of animals within these 'institutions'.

See SOCPA Sec 145  http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2005/ukpga_20050015_en_14#pt5-pb1-l1g145

Mel set up? No bloody doubt!

How the hell can Broughton use explosives, or even get hold of them, when he's under 24 hour surveillance by the state and police?

It's not just paranoia that he's under surveillance - it's a fact that he is followed 24/7, his phone is tapped and emails watched and has been shown time and time again.

Same with many other campaigners.

Bollocks is what i say to the cops

Prison Address for Mel

15.12.2007 02:59

Write to mel and show solidarity. Remember that all mail is read by the prison services so don't put anything incriminating or that you don't want them to know. If you don't know what to write, just send Mel a card. Our thoughts are also with his Mum, a dedicated campaigner, as he is imprisoned so close to Christmas.

Mel Broughton TN9138, HM Prison Woodhill, Tattenhoe Street, Milton Keynes, Bucks MK4 4DA.

Screw

Always be aware of sueveillance tactics! It ISN'T paranoia!

Police use a variety of tactics.
Befriending people in pubs / clubs and making out they are "not interested in Animal Rights" but are very, very interested in just about everything you do, who you speak to, where you go etc.
Creating coincidences i.e. Meeting you on a demo and then all of a sudden turning up at your favourite social venue...."sharing" your taste in music...
I'm not saying SOME of these situations are no doubt genuine but just be careful.
Telling you that "animal abusers can actually be nice people /are human"....

Special Branch are currently using the tactic of trying to goad info out of activists they know little about, especially activists who have never been arrested...saying things like : " You do 'nothing' for the animals / what exactly do you 'do' anyway" etc....which can lead to people trying to justify themselves / prove themselves by spilling the beans and dropping 'witnesses' in it. Another tactic is trying to humiliate people who are confident enough to use a megaphone on demos by calling them "egotistical show offs" to try and keep them quiet....

Lets face it they can, will and do infiltrate animal rights. they will go on demos, drive the van,
even take part in actions....

Love your mates....but be careful out there folks!

so whats he supposed to have done?

24.12.2007 20:29

have the police actually accused him of anything specific yet?
have they produced any hard evidence to back up his arrest and detention?
or have they simply collected items from around his home that no self respecting gardener and handyman would be without and them implied some sinister purpose?
can anyone who attended the hearings post some info????

i smell a stitch up! are the police simply making good on their promises?

confused

Innocent

18.02.2008 18:29

The news that Mel had been arrested came as a surprise to me.
I have spoken to mel on a number of occasions and he is the most caring and compassionate Human Beings that you could ever wish to meet.
I believe that they are trying to make an example of him.
Do the likes of Oxford University or Thames Valley Police really believe that charging Mel it will all stop.
No way.
We are all in this until the day that all animal experiments stop.
Thames valley police are just a bunch of tossers anyway and Oxford University are a load of arrogant arsewipes.
Their only purpose is to try and take away freedom of speach.
And they will try anything to do it.
I hope Mel is found NOT GUILTY.
And i hope that H.L.S. and Oxford University crumble.
The innocent do not deserve this treatment of the most horrific crimes against them that you could ever imagine.
For all of the animals that they have so happily slaughtered may they finally rest and dance along a rainbow and somehow know that we did try and are still trying.
We will never give up on you.
