Georgia, Tblisi. President of State, Michail Saakaschwili, declared the state of exception in Georgia. Soldiers of the ministry of the interior occupied the centre of Tiflis. They still patrol on the Rustaveli-Avenue where they yesterday crushed a protest of many thousand people. More than 100 were injured, many detained.
Today there are almost no cars on the streets, people stay at home.

The state of exception will last at least 15 days. All marches are forbidden, as well as any form of protest. State TV news were stopped. The four private TV stations send only entertainment shows. The critical TV station IMEDI is shut down, police entered it on wednesday. Schools and universities are closed.

Michail Saakaschwili, the president of state, is anti-russian and pro western. He says the protests in Georgia are Russias fault. He says the state of exception was necessary to avoid chaos.

The russian ministery of the exterior called the state of exception in its neighbour country Georgia "a provocation".

looks like a miniscule version of a summit protest....all the videos are from 'Russia Today', who is that? who are they working for? is this russia trying it on with georgia? from the hyper news presenters it's clear we should sympathise with the protesters.....i'm sure the activists out in IMC world will recognise the ridiculous calm of the mayor etc explaining that they had to reimpose 'normality'. if this was in the UK, the mainstream media would be screaming suport for the police, pointing out that people threw rocks etc etc etc etc. i guess it's useful to see supression of dissent through other people's eyes for a change...

makes the claim that protesters were cleared in the first place 'so that nurseries and schools and hospitals would not be disrupted' kind of hollow. but we knew that anyway. nobody wants to take bait and say that it was all set up by the CIA? Oh hang on, the Georgian government got in thanks to a CIA 'colour' revolution, right? it must by the Kremlin paying protesters then. on this note, i seem to remember that when i was an anti-road protester, we were told every day by the security guards that they 'knew' we were being paid to protest by the Kremlin. hmmm
