Public Declaration - Santiago, 30th October 2007
The group named 'Memoria Indigena' (Indigenous Memory) have released the following declaration for the knowledge of the national and international community.
Prior to the violent raid that was carried, Tuesday 30th October, in the Mapuche community of Temucuicui, by the institution of Armed Police of Chile, where the minor of 10 years old, Patricio Queipul Millanao, was arterially wounded by the bullets that they cowardly and indiscriminately fired straight at the boy's body.
The minor was admitted to Sapu de Ercilla, with multiple injuries to his thorax, legs and hands, according to the statement that the doctor that treated him in the Sapu de Ercilla made to a human rights organisation that communicated from France . The doctor sent the minor to the Hospital de Victoria to verify the seriousness of his injuries. He remains under there care.
We are making an urgent call of solidarity with our brothers and sisters to be ready to denounce these unbelievable facts against our brothers and sisters, and to declare themselves against these violations of human rights that are carried out systematically against the Mapuche people by the Chilean State and its institutions.
This piece of news is still in the process of development, a fact that we must be aware of. This call is to all the Mapuche organisations, and especially non-Mapuche organisations to raise their voices in defense of life.
We send from our group all the support and solidarity to our brothers and sisters from the Temucuicui Community, in this time of pain and repression that they are suffering at the hand of the repressive and oppressive Chilean State and we raise our voices in defence of the just demands of the People of the Mapuche Nation.
NO TO THE ABUSE OF POWER!!!
MAPUCHE PEOPLE ARE AN EXAMPLE OF STRUGGLE AND RESISTANCE!!!
MARRICHIWEU!!!
