Então, a fórmula da riqueza é explorar mão-de-obra barata? Se fosse assim, os países de Primeiro Mundo seriam mais pobres do que nós, pois a mão de obra lá custa muito mais caro do que aqui.

Sua premissa é falsa. Se, por aqui, os pobres fossem menos pobres, os ricos não seriam menos ricos por causa disto. Eles seriam, isto sim, AINDA MAIS RICOS, pois disporiam de um mercado consumidor maior para seus produtos. A grande desigualdade social é a síndrome de um modo de produção primitivo, que gera pouca riqueza à custa de muito trabalho, como, por exemplo, a produção de cana-de-açúcar. Este primitivismo não interessa a ninguém, mas mudá-lo não depende da vontade dos ricos. Ele só muda muito lentamente, à medida que novos modos de produção são implementados. Foi o que aconteceu com os atuais países ricos no passado, e é o que está acontecendo no presente com os países emergentes.

Você imagina os ricos como uma "classe dominante", espécie de irmandade secreta, ardilosa e maquiavélica, que luta para manter os demais na ignorância e na pobreza. Isto é fantasia, produto de imaginação e ressentimento. Os ricos não são diferentes de mim ou de você. Não são piores nem melhores que os outros. São apenas mais ricos.

Logo de início a abstração dizendo que os países desenvolvidos, seriam mais pobres que os em desenvolvimento, pois a mão de obra la é cara ja se mostra bem duvidosa. Não necessariamente a mão de obra sempre foi cara, e que houve um processo histórico para o encarecimento dessa mesma, isso não há como negar.E sem contar o fato da exploração de mão de obra e recursos que ocorreram históricamente com os países sub e em desenvolvimento.
Então logo, classificar a premissa do artigo como falsa, é erroneo, de ou má fé.
Pois o argumento dado no comentário se mostra como uma opinião e não como fato, ou seja, esta no mesmo nível do argumento dado no artigo, só que com o objetivo de invalidalo. Ótimo, o Brasil produz cana-de-açucar sim, mas também produz bens de capital. O problema da desigualdade no Brasil antes de econômico é, estrutural.
