Burmese Pressure Breaks UN Mould. . . . keep breaking the news blockades!

altsort, plus plus | 16.10.2007 15:11 | Globalisation | Other Press | Repression | World

Recent statements from the western media that the burmese situation is blocked by china have shown themselves as the"cold-war nostalgia" war spin they were intended as. . . .

China has broken the "traditional "UN blocked by chinese veto" myth" by - this time - voting WITH all the other members in a total condemnation of the recent persecutions, arrests, etc.
The junta, or their blocking western "tail wag dog" cor[porate securitytypes, dictating from their luxury hotels with tunnels to the infamous bunkers, try to claim that there arent "political" prisoners. . . .
People on the borders see the difference this time, in comparison to prior repressions, is the lack of refugees. People are staying to up the pressure in different ways - the worlds PEOPLES need to match this pressure - there are paid "opinion-influencers" trying to get this OUT of the news. These corporations are the SAME corporations that did the spin FOR the wars in Iraq.
Certain western oil groups have somehow kept their names out of news reports - in the case of the "e conomist" by having a special sponsorship deal with the magazine.
Most of the Thai or Sngapore trade with burma is also little mentioned - yet THESE places are FAR more cautious about their "public image". . . .
USA bluster seems nominal, alleged "economic measures" seem a sham, so far, as people WITHIN the USAs "global democracy support" funds - often suspected by campaigners here, for loads of good reasons too, are IN FACT complaining that this support is kept utterly token - theres more cash for, say, a deregulatory breakfast club in india in comparison to that for burmese democracy!
Spain in the 1930s, or belgium in 1939 . . . . might you let your journalists say "that was last weeks news.
This is NEXT weeks news too.
DOGS AGAINST SHACKLES TOO!!!! (see prior burmese tale (tail?!) in uk indymedia) - if the burmese people keep showing such imagination, style, courage, wit etc in their protests, perhaps you need to keep in touch with what they do to add bounceback to YOUR days too -
_ _ _ _ - - - - we ARE all on the same world !
K E E P I T U P !

. . . . but also, watch where the ACTUAL news blockades are coming from, to wonder why!

Embassy lunchtime demos to continue - appreciate ideas for further actions, too - have enthusiasm - "old hacks" could drop by, get in touch? cheers !!!!
