Action Committee To Get The People Their Money Back

ACTION COMMITTEE TO GET THE PEOPLE THEIR MONEY BACK | 22.08.2007 14:06 | Globalisation | Migration | London | World

As we [ACTION COMMITTEE TO GET THE PEOPLE THEIR MONEY BACK] have pointed out before, a number of individuals got on TV and other media making promises that they were doing something tangible and that the people would get their money back from the perpetrators who acted by using the name 'First Solution'. The victims have been low-income, mainly expatriate Bangladeshis in the UK. The 'publicity' has been mainly given to divert attention away from the shoulders of the perpetrators, the individuals who took the money and who controlled the taking and misappropriating of the cash.

The gist of the first complaint against Bangla TV is as follows:

Inaccurate, incompetent, misleading, false information broadcast in some of the ‘news’ items and then perpetuated in the editions of ‘Friday Plus’ that the broadcast apparently dedicated to the examination and reporting of the loss of the cash handed by UK Bangladeshis for transfer to their relatives, families and friends and colleagues in Bangladesh.

The contents, the thrust and the priority given in the particular items as broadcast on Bangla TV have aided the perpetrators who stole and or misappropriated the money belong to the people who handed the money to the perpetrators who had been operating under the name 'First Solution' from their main address as then based at the 'London Muslim Centre' Whitechapel Road, London E1

"Rowdy and anarchic" in Dhaka ?

22.08.2007 14:49

I don't mean to demean your posts here by sidetracking them, but you seem to be about the only Bangladeshi posting here and I am very curious about another issue.

There have been mainstream media reports that Bangladeshi student activists have physically expelled an army camp from Dhaka university. What is the real history of it ? How was it achieved ? What is the reaction of the British-Bangladeshi community to this ? What's going to happen next ? Do the students there want international support ?

I hope you can see why I find the following quote worrying:

Reuters > Before ordering the curfew, a government statement said the authorities would take "stern actions against anyone engaged in rowdy and anarchic acts". The government withdrew the army camp from the Dhaka University campus on Tuesday night and promised to punish the offenders, in a bid to cool the protesters.

Brief, interim, reply to 'danny' - events in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh

22.08.2007 21:46

Dear 'Danny',

You are more than welcome to put any genuine query to us about events affecting our community here or actions by the Government now in charge in Bangladesh.

Please bear this in mind, though: we are a voluntarily campaign, that came into existence because of the dishonest behaviour of a group of individuals cheating members of our own community. Our campaign is run voluntarily and we depend on the services of our volunteers. In private lives, they are accomplished persons I their own fields. But this Acton Committee is entirely voluntary and all of us are doing what we can to get the people their money back.

However, we have sent out messages seeking info and shall post as accurate an account here as we are able to compile as soon as possible.

Hope this helps to give you a perspective.
