During the week 5-9th August 2007 Vine and Fig Planters (from both the UK and Sweden) took the opportunity provided by the excellent weather conditions (rain and sunshine) to plant such trees on several occasions at the SAAB Microwave factory in Gothenburg Sweden (providers of weapons systems to ongoing violence in Iraq).
Planting near and deeply into the rich dark soil was essential.
The vines and fig trees were planted to envision the prophecy of Micah 4 v 3, 4 as found in the Hebrew scriptures to initiate a new garden so all can in wholeness and be unafraid including those in Iraq and the homeless from wartorn zones.
Three arrests followed and Les Gibbons from the UK was detained by the police for 3 nights before appearing at the court for a remand hearing.
Gibbons explained that he would be only to pleased to return to Gothenburg for a court trial appearance to retell the story of the plantings.
The planting went well.
