WASHINGTON, Jul. 25, 2007 (PR Newswire delivered by Newstex) -- America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) today announced it has launched a national television advertising campaign in which seniors speak about the effect that cuts to Medicare Advantage would have on their health security and urge concerned citizens to ask Congress to protect the program. The campaign, titled 'Matters to Us,' comes as Congress considers legislation that would destabilize the Medicare Advantage program on which more than eight million seniors rely.

'If Congress moves forward with the cuts proposed in the House, it will be the end of the Medicare Advantage program,' said Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of AHIP.
The ad complements the grassroots campaign run by AHIP's Coalition for Medicare Choices, which was founded in 1999 and now includes more than 400,000 seniors. Coalition members have participated in town hall meetings, visited district offices, and reached out to Congress through phone calls, letters and emails.
