While people were blockading the west gate of the G8 security zone others were creating multiple barricades across the whole area. In this case behind the police lines.

Groups of people were moving throughout the area setting up these blockades. Sometimes the police turned up quickly with the armoured tanks to clear the blocks or with riot police who charged down the roads with people scattering back into the forest, other times the barricades were in place for quite some time.
The traffic was often snarled along the back roads with police, protestors and media creating their own vehicular chaos.
