Do you REALLY Love Hackney?
Hackney Council is now in the process of writing an environmental planning policy. (did you know about it?)
-YOU ARE NEEDED to help empower the Council to draw up a policy which is:
-honest
-open
-lawful
-genuine
-and which will prevent the unique character of Hackney
from being unlawfully turned into yet another urban village of
rabbit hutches with nowhere to run...!
-What we mean by unlawful:
To knowingly injure your neighbour is reckless and criminal
To knowingly, cause un-necessary, and/or unreasonable damage or pollution to the environment (which you live in), IS to knowingly cause injury to yourself, your family, and your neighbour, and is therefore reckless and criminal.
We're well aware of the common argument that "I can't do otherwise -I need to live!" This is why the environmental pollution or damage must be un-necessary and/or unreasonable to be reckless and criminal.
-What we suggest:
To knowingly and un-necessarily demolish servicable buildings only to replace them with newbuild IS CRIMINAL (by knowingly causing substantial un-necessary environmental pollution and damage due to the heavy industrial environmental costs incurred in the manufacture and use of the materials required for the un-necessary newbuild - do you know how much energy it takes to make a brick??).
A relatively small amount of the huge time, energy, and environmental costs incurred in building un-necessary new premises would be far better spent on refurbishing existing ones, and the quite substantial difference be spent on much needed public amenities, such as schools, shops, health care, social centres, public transport, recreation, etc.
We suggest that the Council owes the People of Hackney a 'Duty of Care' to develop an environmental planning policy which will refuse planning applications which are reckless and criminal in this or any other respect.
A Full Public Planning Enquiry is to be held at
Hackney Town Hall from 10.00am on 6-8th March
