ABC: A world class bungle that's how the organisers described the - "ban" - on the Australian flag."
But were the organisers describing 'a ban' on the Australian flag?
Well not according to the BDO media release days before the Big Day Out so what's the real story?
Big Day Out Press Release
We are not banning the Australian flag but are simply discouraging its use for anti-social purposes at the Big Day Out.
Unfortunately the media reports yesterday were not quoted accurately and we must thank the participating media for wasting everybody's time including the Prime Minister John Howard, Premier Morris Iemma, NSW RSL President Don Rowe, Keysar Trad (a confidant of the Mufti Sheik Taj el-Dene Elhilaly) and Burt Lane of the Australian National Flag Association...
http://www.bigdayout.com/news/pressreleases.php
Then I heard Viv Lees yesterday from the BDO say: "This is what I would call a world class bungle."
But I didn't hear him describe banning the flag 'as a world class bungle' in the very same sentence.
So what was the truth about all the political nationalistic and patriotic rhetorical brainwashing approach by John Howard's ABC report and the corporate mass media?
Did the organisers change their mind after their press release because of the political wedge and mass media opposition and because of the overwhelming odds that were stacked against them?
Or was that the BDO's original position in the first place? Why did the BDO Viv Lees only say half the sentence last night on the ABC so as not to include the word 'ban' as reported by the ABC? To save face?
Why couldn't Viv Lees finish his sentence to include the word 'ban' on national news?
Smack, smack, paddywhack or give a dog a bone?
The ABC said, " they've learnt their lesson and would never try to/// 'ban'/// the flag again"
But BDO did not say 'ban' the flag in the first place did they? So why are the mass media giants saying they did?
Pedal to the metal
ABC: "Its elementary psychology tell them they can't do it and they're more revved up to defy the rule."
But is that like, Zoom, Zoom, Zoom so when the kids get out on the road they kill themselves driving?
And who knows more about elementary psychology than all of us? John Howard's conservative neo-Liberal corporate stink tank? Labor's Kevin Rudd? The entire political and corporate mass media propaganda machine and including John Howard's ABC?
Were the kids 'revved' up or wound up by the political and corporate mass media? And should we be proud of that? I don't think so! But only because the corporate media giants can project what they say to 90 per cent of the people.
Because there has been a 'surge' in the history of the corporate Mass Media Giants misrepresenting what people in the community are really saying. This strange phenomenon of using 'lies, spin and propaganda' seems to be 'A' political Lib/Lab party trait and to them seems more important than the truth itself.
From the media reports it is my understanding that people were never told they couldn't make their own choice at the Big Day Out.
ABC: "They displayed the Australian flag in every conceivable way and no one was going to stop them."
Well John Howard's ABC and the main scream corporate media giants were using their overwhelming power no doubt, to veto the wishes of the Big Day Out organisers and encourage them to take the flags - against the wishes of the organisers to discourage them - that's certain.
But was it the safe thing to do? Occupational Health and Safety? Duty of Care to patrons etc? Shouldn't that be considered?
Big Day Out Press Release
In recent times, there has been an increased incidence of flags brandished aggressively and this has led to increased tension. Our only intention in discouraging this activity at the Big Day Out is to ensure that our patrons are not subjected to this aggressive behaviour.
http://www.bigdayout.com/news/pressreleases.php
A girl then says, "We should be able to show how much we love our country and be proud of it."
Yes, how much we 'love' our country.
But it's not about patriotism or nationalism or a reason to exploit kids by the political and corporate mass media. It's about freedom, choice and according to that girl... love and pride as well to take along her flag to the BDO or perhaps anywhere.
Then a guy says, " You can't ban an Australian flag you're in Australia celebrating Australia day the day before."
So it was clear to him that the flag had been 'banned'? Where did he get that from? Not off the BDO website.
Big Day Out Press Release
The Big Day Out is not an Australia Day event, but a music festival showcasing music artists from around the world and aspires to unify people through music.
http://www.bigdayout.com/news/pressreleases.php
Then another guy says, " I don't think the flag, you know should provoke any violence at all. Its just idiots that are too drunk that promote violence. "
ABC: "The Big Day Out wanted to/// "ban"/// the flag sighting antisocial behaviour at the event last year which was just weeks after the Cronulla riots. Today there was a big police presents and the sniffer dogs were waiting outside the train station in all seventy people were stopped with drugs."
There is that word ///"ban"///again but I still only heard it come from the corporate Mass Media and not on the Big Day Out web site or even from Viv Lees?
ABC: " In the end even the events organisers couldn't resist flying the flag as 55,000 people packed the Sydney Showground everywhere you turned it was a parade of patriotism."
Was it patriotism really? What about that flag? Take a long hard look at that flag? It was a parade of freedom, choice, pride and love.
Adrian Raschella ABC: "Flag or no flag you get the overwhelming feeling that people weren't going to let the event organisers policy or political point scoring highjack their big day out."
But it sounds like the main scream corporate media giants and the ABC highjacked the BDO first for John Howard's politics, nationalism and patriotism... march onward Christian soldiers... and not about having fun at the BDO but defending the governments politics and intolerable war stance and it shows by bringing the RSL president Don Row in on it as well as the islamophobic element filtering through with the Mufti and the like in the BDO press release. As if we don't know.
ABC: "Organisers say... they regret trying to ban the flag."
Did they say... ban the flag?
Viv Lees BDO: "This is what I would call a world class bungle"
But he didn't say, banning the Australian flag was a world class bungle.
ABC: "Event management insists in Sydney there is a legitimate concern about racially based antisocial behaviour but they'll never try to ban the flag again," Adrian Raschella ABC news....
Adrean Rashella's views...? Who does he report for? ABC who do they report for? Corporations and the John Howard govt.
