Pick's Syndrome

09.11.2006 09:24

I have worked with a few patients who have 'Picks Syndrome', as I am used to calling it, is a symptom of dementia that effects the frontol lobe, as been diagnosed. It affects behaviour reducing inhibitions, and one of the symptoms I have noticed is inappropriate sexual behaviour and child like behaviour. Particularly a reduced attention span and an unwillingness to listen to reason.

You can read more about Pick's disease on:
 http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/Facts_about_dementia/What_is_dementia/info_fronto.htm

However, don't be disheatened by this, you can learn techniques in which to manage behaviour and you can develop quite an amiable and appropriate relationship with the person with pick's syndrome.

Here is another link to a support group.

Hope this helps, but don't give up - have a look round for support and such.
