Several anti-fascist were arrested after attack of the nazi march in the midle of september, 2 of them still in prison, yesterday a lot of anti-fascists were arrested in St. Petersburg and some other russian cities after counter-actions against nazi-marches. September,17. the MAUI-meeting. MAUI (Movement Against Unlegal Immigration) is nowadays the biggest and most powerful Nationalistic Party in Russia. Pretending to be a civilized party which is to use only constitutional methods of political struggle, they bring the propaganda of open NAZI's thoughts, encouraging impatience and race hatred. Its not a secret that they were involved into the ethnic conflict in Kondopoga (Karelia, not far from S.Petersburg). We also know about MAUI's connections with Neo-Nazi criminal gangs, that participated in murders of foreign students and a student of SPbSU, participant of punk/hardcore bands "Sandinista!" and "Distress" and local Food not Bombs collective Timur Kacharava. Armed with silent agreeing of Society's opinion and official permission of government, the Movement holds it's actions in the historical center of our city, that has survived the fascist's Blockade. The only ones who tried to stand in the way of the Nazi meeting in the center of the city were some young people tired of murders and terror brought by neo-Nazis recently. Trying to stop the meeting, they faced the fact that "peacefully meeting" MAUI-members were armed with knives, and one of them even with a kitchen-hammer. As a result, two people got hurt, one's had was injured with the mentioned hammer and the other one got a knife in his stomach. The mass media claims that those who attacked meeting hurt a passenger.
It is more possible that he was hurt by meting members, because only they had knives. Those trying to stop the meeting used things they found on the street: bottles, sticks and things of that sort, but none of them had any cold weapon. As a result two antifascists got caught by police and are now waiting for a trial, one of them - Igor Malyshev is even caged in Kresti-jail.
