And nowhere is this Guardian racism more explicit than in the fact that the news organisation deliberately created a phantom entity it has now sought to use to give the plausible pretext to Salam Rushdie et all to mount their latest attack on the image of the people concerned.
The Guardian was given the full set of facts and the opportunity prior to its publishing any of the racist attack pieces against the community. But the Guardian repeatedly failed to speak to the campaign and misrepresented and misquoted the campaign and falsified the statement and its impact.
The campaign organiser had issued the detailed reasoning and constitutional arguments against the latest bid to use Monica Ali to justify the new attack on the community.
The Guardian chose to ignore the facts and went ahead to publish the lies that it published on 17-18 and 20 July 2006.
The Campaign against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London today [Friday 21 July 2006] announces the next programme of actions it is taking to defend the embattled area from the organised attacks by big business forces that are operating in accordance with the socially exclusive and racist agenda to undermine the legitimacy of the community. Those forces are doing this by defaming the community, by vilifying it and by using all manner of tokens so that the area is ripe for the takeover that the agenda has been set up to facilitate.
The community is real as is the community’s right to take what legitimate and lawful actions are appropriate to defend itself
Those actions include the options to put the facts on the record and to warn all concerned against the operation of phantom entities that are foisted on the community as part of a ploy to show the community in worse light than would be the case if the community’ real concerns were given the space and the platform that have been denied us by the Guardian and by the others who have ignorantly imitated the racist lies and fabrications propagated by the Guardian.
The Campaign against Defamation of Community in the East End of London has been collecting signatures to the campaign petition which can be accessed by following the link below

Could you spell out exactly what your objections to Ali's book are?

Why do you believe any of these fictional characters' actions could be read to "represent" a non-fictional group of people?
Please explain.

Bonkers
21.07.2006 14:04
A letter is then sent to the paper *criticising* The Guardian for publishing the article, saying that bit was misleading, signed by Hanif Kureishi, Salman Rushdie and others.
You then post on here saying the Guardian is evil, racist, fascist and so on because of statements you said were in the paper, but which were in fact in a letter... criticising the Guardian's article.
Get. A. Grip. If you can't understand something as simple as that, there is no reason to believe anything you say.
Incidentally it's not just Salman Rushdie and Hanif Kureishi who think the complaints about the Brick Lane film are exaggerated. So do such papers as Asians In the Media, which must obviously be, erm, racist.

An additional point

Only just noticed that the Guardian published another letter alongside the Rushdie one on the same day.
The letter by Iqbal Ahmed seems to explain the row far better than the histrionic rant above. Oh - and adds to the evidence that complaints about the paper's bias on this topic may, just possibly, be bollocks.

To the Guardian-backing ‘Bonkers' - YOU get a grip! THINK! Before you sink in the sea of lies that the Guardian and Rushdie belong in.
The Campaign against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London began last weekend to make the difference between the community’s being wrongly pushed into media associations with images of violence and a peaceful, decent way of getting across the views of the community.
By failing to report on those and by deliberately creating a phantom image with untruthful comments which then got further deteriorated in images of sub-fundamentalism, the Guardian has caused a departure from ‘civilised and peaceful’ expression of views.
We have NOT called the Guardian evil nor have we called it fascist.
We have called it racist its agenda racist and we have done so based on the relevant studies of the relevant contents of the Guardian of over 50 years.
If YOU are not beneficially involved with the Guardian or with one of the ‘Monica Ali book film’ projects or similar and if you are an honest person whose priority is to identify and affiliate with the truth in life and society then you should give us your contact e-mail address and we shall send you references to detailed studies of the racist role of the Guardian.
If you can do this then we shall know that you have some sense. Otherwise, we won't have any evidence that you know the difference between getting a grip and being a drip yourself!
The contemporary political and social context of and the historic background to the Camapgn against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London
The Guardian is ‘edited’ by Alan Rusbridger whose longstanding ‘partner’ herself is a notorious distorter of the image and the records of the East End of London.
Apart from her, the Guardian also has a historic role in distorting the factual images of the historic origins and the contemporary realities of and in the East End of London.
Our campaign against the latest attacks against the community in the East End of London as seen in and carried out via the so-called liberal and the so-called respectable media in the UK is a very important one. We do not plan to let the liars perpetrate their leis any more against the community in the East End of London.
And in our campaign we intend to unmask the historic liars and surrogates of the state-based xenophobes and colonialists in Britain whom the Guardian has from time to time used by providing temporary spots to those liars.
Are you with the liars or could you care at all whether you became included as a liar or not!
YOU get a grip!
And see if you can tell the truth for a day!
It matters to the East End of London whether the ‘mainstream’ media tell the truth about us or not.
It is a battle against the liars who control the levers of power that they abuse to deny the rights to the community as based on the image of the people in the community.
We cannot afford the luxury of ignoring this.
And for that reason we are determined to stop the Guardian and the BBC and others adding to the existing piles of lies. We shall oppose new lies as vigorously as we are embarked on opposing the leis that have been invented via Monica Ali and are being processed to be retailed via ‘her book film’!

22.07.2006 11:31
.And I am proud of the campaign. Its aims and its objects. And I am certain that the campaign will succeed in educating the whole country and make an international impact about the
The case against the political agenda that both the CDCEEL [Campaign against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London] and the CBRUK organisation have made has now been proven by the two 'sources' of the 'comments'.
One is of course the bollocks-obsessed one and the other the 'kabir' one.
We are very “grateful” for these exhibitors of the prejudice the bias and the spite that the 'Monica Ali' 'book' has been sued as a tool to show against our community.
To all the viewers of these pieces, we can simply say: Please read the contents and only make any comments about the opponents of the 'Monica' 'Ali' 'book' as justified by the contents of the items.
We note the impact of our campaign!
The exhibitors have now brought in issues and factors that we have neither stated nor intend to state. Until now.
No doubt other ‘East End villagers’ will come in to add their own responses and observations on the sub-lire ate, sub-intelligent ‘critics of the East End villagers’!

use of commas
22.07.2006 15:02
your use of commas is really over the top. my name really is Kabir. and, yes, i have read the book. i actually think it portrays the east end in a very good light, and the east end should be glad that an author such as ali has seen the beauty that exists in the east end and chosen to write about it. it is you, oh village idiot, who has not realised that Sylhet and Dhaka are a long way away, that it is you who portrays the east end in a bad light by your stupidity. If you were really concerned about the east end, you would ask, what is the main representation of the east end in popular imagination? East Enders the soap opera. Why do you not campaign against that? Or are you only concerned with how your community sees itself (regardless of the truth). you are stuck in the stone age, your time has already passed but you do not realise it yet.

Camapgn against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London
Saturday 22 July 2006:
We have not stated a single time anything to do with ‘Sylhet and Dhaka’.
Yet this idiot has abused us more than once and has attributed words and notions that are nothing to do with our campaign or with what we have stated in our other communications.
Our aim is to educate. That presupposes the availability of the minimum amount of brain cells in the physical entities that parade themselves under names like the one being claimed to be the name of the idiot who now insists to be accepted as ‘really Kabir’.
There is no such name. Either it is part of a name or it is a faker.
Is it a male or is it a female?
The actual truth of its existence, the abuser is evidently unable to make a rational contribution.
Why is it so irrational?
Is that something to do with the fact that our campaign has got to it?
And why would our campaign against the defamation of the community in the Eats End of London drive a sub-intelligent entity out of its ‘mind’?
It must be involved in some beneficial way as a tout for a project that is being peddled to undo the Eats End and the idiot must be in receipt of some financial benefit.
If it is not then it should announce its full name and address and we can make our own assessment of whether it is real or it is a time wasting fake.
Why else would the idiot use abusive words against us on allegations that do not have anything to do with our campaign and then pose what it must think a heavy challenge to us for not campaigning against the BBC ‘soap’ Eastender?
Either the idiot does recognise that we can do campaigning or it does not. It cannot have it both ways.
Either the idiot is a parasite living off the community or it is a defender of the community in which case the idiot must stop wasting time.
The uses of commas are made to distinguish between two or more concepts or notions in the context of contemporary application of the given language that accommodates the uses.
We have used distinguishing indicators to put on the record our suspicion about the authenticity of the idiot’s assertions.
Its latest abusive post vindicated us.
As have the rest of its post.
The idiot could not have expected us to say this. But the more abusive and sub-intelligent posts it makes allegedly in backing the ‘Monica Ali book film’ attacks on our community, the clearer it shall become that our campaign was more than overdue. That our campaign was more than the right thing to do in the context of these attacks that seem not only 'fictional’ but very much factual.
If the idiot ‘Kabir’ is ‘real’ then it is one of those congenital liars and sub-intelligent whose incapacities must be stopped from being further abused at the expense of our community.
With idiotic abusers like ‘Kabir’ being available to attack us for defending our community, we most certainly do not have the luxury of leaving the image and the rights of the East End to be determined by the parades of parasites that are now being
spotted ….

Monica Ali 'book' ''Brick Lane' was tool for political violations,
22.07.2006 20:27
2120 Saturday 22 July 2006
Our campaign aims to oppose the use of the Monica Ali 'book' as a continuation of the tool for racist stereotyping that it was used as when the ‘inauguration’ of ‘'book' was promoted almost exclusively in the racist and the pro-racist media. we also are preparing court actions against those who plugged Monica Ali 'book' and Monica Ali as 'author' to mount their racist assaults on the collective and the targeted images of the community.
The fact that we had not done that in 2002 - 2003 does not mean we were not thinking of doing that. We defend the whole of the EAST END OF LONDON.
It is that image that has been violated by the jumpers of the bandwagon that is 'ethnicity-linked female tool for Hillary clintonisation of a community'. in other words, all that the decadent, corrupt, capitalist greedy profiteering market 'culture' has to foist upon the last bits of uncontaminated world and societies, is subjected to contamination under covers of 'free speech'.
There never is free speech when it comes to the violation of human rights. Where is the free speech of the millions of people who are condemned to deaths by hunger starvation while entirety of the Granta-lured, Granta-tempted, Granta-seduced, Granta-corrupted 'westernised' 'ethnicity-linked' 'author' establishment is engaged in worshipping the evil allures of injustice in the inner cities? Why was 'Monica Ali' given the extended plug on the BBC news 24 in that interview slot fronted by Gavin oozing Esler last week?
What intellectual, literary merit justified that? we are saying that the 'Monica Ali 'book' was a composite, a political composite and that she was created as an author to foment disaffection against a targeted part of the inner city population.
That agenda was and continues to remain part and integral parcel of a wider equally sinister political agenda. that agenda of reviving the arguments for justifying empire...imperialism and thus softening the grounds for the further extension of the 21st century type of imperialism and occupation in Asia and Africa albeit under the re-crafted terms of allegedly freeing the subjected territories from their own propensity to violence!
Just as Monica Ali has been created and used as a tool under covers of ‘literature; to target ands attack a particular part of the population which the warriors want to undermine and morally compromise so were the ‘religion-linked’ ‘writers’ Hanif Kureshie and Salman Rushdie created and foisted on the image of the relevant community to achieve the one and single agenda objective – containing the triggers to insult outrage, offend and provoke and then target the community.
The ultra fast availability of both Kureishie and Rushdie to co-appear in the so-called letter in the Guardian on 20 July 2006 against the target community in the End of London shows once again just how ferociously active they have been as part of the agenda of violation against the community.
First the literary attacks. Then the economic, political and military attacks.

Campaign against 'Monica Ali book film' widens from East London
24.07.2006 13:05
A CDCEEL camapgn meeting held in the Brick Lane London E1 area on Sunday began to widen programme of collecting signatures from the rest of the East End.
Sponsored by the Committee for Bangladeshis’ Rights in the UK, the Campaign Against the Defamation of the Community in the East End of London, CDCEEL, is now [ as at Monday 24 July 2006] collecting signatures to a general petition against the attack being mounted against the community via a film on the alleged book allegedly written by someone called Monica Ali entitled Brick Lane
The petition will be included as the legal foundation to mount further challenges against the makers of the film and all relevant promoters, distributors and backers of that attack on the East End of London. Our camapgn will focus also on all other relevant participants.
“We consider the ‘book’ a tool for the political attack on the East End of London community and we have to oppose the contents, the implications of the political and social attack on our community. For now and for the future. For the records. For the defence of the rights of the people of the East End of London against discrimination, against violations. Whether the violations are confected in the apparent form of literature or by or in other modes or other means.

Clarification
24.07.2006 13:17
If you're going to be pedantic, fine. You did not use the words "fascist" or "evil". You merely suggested the Guardian were evil by repeatedly accusing them of racist lying. And you only implied they were fascist by suggesting that they were racists and that they were not liberals.
The key point is... you've still not explained on here - or, as promised, on your website - what your complaint against the Guardian actually is. They wrote a story saying that many in the Brick Lane community were pissed off by the filming of the Monica Ali book - which your statement backs up.
You've still not explained what is incorrect about that. I could understand if they'd written a story saying everyone in the East End was jumping around for joy and celebrating the filming in the streets, but that is blatantly not the case.
I've given evidence for what I've written - such as a link to the reply letter and a clear explanation of what the Rushdie letter was.
You've not given any substantion for your claim that the Guardian is staffed by worse-than-Daily-Mail racists. Just bizarre oblique slurs about the editor's wife. Based on what, exactly?
(and, no, I don't write for The Guardian - though it's sweet of you to think I do)
Your original posting remains, in my view misleading and inflammatory. Why only mention Rushdie, one of several authors who signed the letter, for instance, if it isn't deliberately to dredge up the anti-Satanic-Verses feeling that remains in some sections of the Muslim community?

What community are you defending? Or are you just defending you ego, you own little pathetic identity? Am i for or against your community? I am against racism, but i am also against attacks on writers. The identity which you so proudly defend is your prison. There is a danger of crying wolf, of shouting racism and fascism too much that it is no longer convincing, and when racism and fascism actually appears... You ask for my name and address? ?For what, so you can send thugs round? Of course Kabir is part of a name, but 'the author' is not even a name. Why do you not post your name and address, pagla? You seem to suggest that i am being paid?? By who, to write on Indymedia???!! To waste my time on a pagla like you... Why is it you cannot seem to stand that other people, shock, other Asian people, have different opinions to you? I think it is you who is being paid by some government agency to stir up controversy and make asians look bad, pagla. Ask the leaders of you campaign...

"Norville"
The campaign posts have been very clear. They have reasoned and have done so very properly.
They have shown the arguments. And as for mentioning only Salman Rushdie, you are wrong. They have also mentioned Hanif Kureishie.
If you are unhappy because you have been shown to lack substance then you can’t blame the community for being correct. Blame someone else. Or accept that attacking a community is not always going to go unchallenged. By challenging the attack represented by Monica Ali, the camapgn in the East End of London has set a very good example for other communities similarly attacked under covers of obscure literary entries.
I have not myself read the alleged book but am more than convinced by the very persuasive and reasonable case made by the campaign on behalf of the people they represent in their brilliant analysis.
Well done to the Campaign against the defamation of the community in the East End of London. No to Monica Ali ‘book’
I may add that I have not read most ‘books’ published every year!
What does that mean? Does that mean that I am barred from holding a view on the books?
I do not have to read the ‘book’ to know what I think about whether the people in the community have a valid moral and ethical right to defend their community.

you have given no clear reasons why you are against Monica Ali's book. There is nothing on the weblinks. Let me ask you a question? who is funding your campaign? What is the real reason for your campaign? I think i know who you are and you have also seen me, but we have not spoken. You are a bahinjod.... Furthermore, Hanif Kureishi and Salman Rushdie are good authors. Can you or anyone associated with you produce anything at all that is even half as good as the buddha of suburbia or midnights children? No, i doubt it. Your campaign on literature is a campaign of illiteracy. You revel in ignorance, and the victim of your campaign will be - the bangladeshi community in the East End (not Eats end, learn to spell before you write). I recommend you to read, and everyone on Indymedia to read, if they want to find out about the truth about Bangladesh anything by Taslima Nasreen. This great writer is not being promoted in the west, but she speaks the truth about Bangladesh.... Everyone please read Taslima Nasreen!!!

You are out of your mind [if you ever had one] and so far in the depths of disorientation that you have been unable to see how urgently in need of psychological rehabilitation you are.

You've still not answered
25.07.2006 12:55
After repeated promises of an explanation - an explanation you pledged would be published online last Friday - you finally put up a "correct" link to the website. And what happens when you click on it? All I got was a blank page with the words: "Those campaign documents referred to will be posted here"
This is going round in circles...
So, no, you've still not explained what the gripe with the Monica Ali book is. Or what was wrong with The Guardian article.
And, no, you didn't mention Kureishi and the others until after I pointed that out. Your original posting only talked about the "recruitment" of Rushdie by The Guardian. Anyone can scan up the page to check that.
I think it usually does help to read a book before complaining about it. Or, if it's a bit too long for you to read, to at least know the basic reasons why you think it is racist. If I've missed it, kindly copy and paste it into your reply or post up a link.
As far as I can gather it boils down to a few nasty comments made in the book by a character who is not supposed to be particularly likeable. If you think that makes the book racist then you've misunderstood the whole point of novels, films, theatre, and so on. Of course, it may be something else you're upset about - but I don't know because you've not told us.
All you've made me do is want to read Monica Ali's book, which I think I'll buy this weekend. You are like the priests in Father Ted, standing outside the Craggy Island cinema shouting "Down with the sort of thing" & only giving it more publicity...
