The latest Shortwave Report (May 12) is up at the website
in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:00)
This week's show features stories from China Radio international, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- President Chavez of Venezuela says the US military exercises in the Caribbean are meant to be a threat of an invasion. Tony Blair admits he won't run for reelection, but won't say when he will step down. The Iranian President insists that his nuclear program is strictly for energy development and that he will not abandon the plan. Iran's top nuclear negotiator said Iran has no intention of withdrawing from the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah have reached an agreement to stop fighting each other, following a deadly clash on Monday.
From NETHERLANDS- An analysis of the decision by the quartet of mediators to send an emergency aid package to help the people of Palestine. In Somalia, intense fighting between Islamic militia and an alliance of warlords has left scores dead- the warlords are reportedly being funded by the US government.
From CUBA- A Viewpoint questioning why the US government's antiterrorist actions do not include going after anti-Castro terrorists living within the US. Recently declassified FBI files reveal years of surveillance on US peace activists such as School of the Americas Watch and antiwar groups- the government claims the investigation and infiltration are in the interests of national security.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on Rumsfeld's admission that there were no WMDs in Iraq, saying it was based on bad information from the CIA, allowing the Republican White House to deny responsibility for the invasion of Iraq.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PST)

And the Partytown streams are great and informative-
I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

-- ...the essence of the evil government is that it anticipates bad conduct on the part of its citizens. Any government which assumes that the population is going to do something evil has already lost its franchise to govern.
