Kamal Zayed, the uncle of the murdered girl who was driving the car, said three men ran toward the car and before he could turn off the engine they fired on him. “I saw them behind the fence. There were more than 30 soldiers. The first bullet hit my niece. She got a bullet in the head from the very beginning,” he recalled while talking to reporters from hospital bed where he was being treated yesterday for gunshot wounds in his arm and leg.
When the IDF opened fire gunfire the car had just arrived at the clinic where the young girl was was to have her stitches removed. “I started to yell ... opened the door and started taking her out of the car to get her into the clinic.”
With the girl dead the outrage didn't end there. Kamal reported that when he was placed in an ambulance to be taken away for treatment to his gunshot wounds, the IDF soldiers was him dragged out of the ambulance and interrogated him for more than two hours before finally allowing him to receive medical treatment.
The girl was killed right at the start of the incident. The IDF rounding up the family members and detaining them at an Israeli military base for several hours but the fugitives fled, assuming they were ever really there.
Yesterday, hundreds of people attended the funeral of the girl. Stopping frequently to wipe away the tears, Akbal Zayed’s father, Abder Zayed, said, “How can I enter the house and never see her again?”
Hearing stories like these it is difficult to see why some people have difficulty understanding the motivation of suicide bombers. Place yourself in the shoes of somebody who has lost their daughter, sister, wife, husband, son or brother - murdered in cold blood by people who will never be held responsible or see any kind of justice.
The Israeli army has since said it was looking into the reports that policemen had killed Akbar Zayed, and confirmed that an 'elite Border Police unit' had been hunting down terror suspects and opened fire at a suspicious car that approached an area that the unit had cordoned off.
Meanwhile, the Israeli papers are keen to inform us that on Friday, two bombs were discovered by soldiers on a road leading to Nablus and destroyed by the IDF. They also tell us that at the Hawarah checkpoint near Nablus, two Palestinians were arrested, one in possession of what is described as a homemade gun and the other for carrying a knife.
There is no end in sight for this cycle of violence unleashed as a result of the British shoehorning Israel into the region last century.
The Hamas government looks like it is becoming more hardline as more moderate Palestinian factions are refusing to join the militant Islamist movement in a coalition. Hamas leader-in-exile, Khaled Meshaal, said running the Palestinian Authority would not deflect the group from its overriding goal of pursuing a long-term struggle with Israel.
"We and the Zionists have a date with destiny. If they want a fight, we are ready for it. If they want a war, we are the sons of war. If they want a struggle, we are for it to the end," he declared.

Interesting version of the story

Simple question, why did the taxi try to evade the roadblock?
Don;t palestinians ever take responsibilty for their actions?

Yes... Islam.
It is a fact, that not a single Christian Palestinian has ever blown themselves up.
To blame Israel for suicide bombing, simply doesn't explain why Islamic terrorism is prevalant in countries where there are no Jews or Americans. For example, South Thailand where Buddhists have had their heads sawn off.
It's too easy to blame Israel, and this is pretty standard fare for the Palestinians who find it far easier than blaming their own corrupt leaders. Unfortunately, it's just not as simple as that.
Israel has had to deal with suicide bombers for years now and has been routinely denounced for its
reaction - yet look what happens on the one and only occasion Britain has had to deal with suicide bombers to date: an innocent man is shot dead.
As insensitive as it may be, the question DOES need to be asked as to why the vehicle didn't stop. The fact is, soldiers fighting suicide terror don't really have much room to be 'sensitive'. This version of the story seems to be missing certain 'snippets' of information found elsewhere. The latter commentary provides insight into why.

This blocade of humanitarian aid and food must end right now and for good (and not just a day or two) and Israel MUST be made to be ashamed for what they have done by a United World community.

Wrong comparison
22.03.2006 09:10
It absolutely is not.
Did the Polish Jews represent a mortal threat to the Germans? Did Polish Jews (a single one) blow up and murder pregnant Germans? No.
Comparisons between Jews and Nazis, or Palestinian terrorists and Jewish victims are as historically inaccurate as they are fundamentally offensive.
The Palestinians could have had, and still can have, peace and prosperity as soon as they are ready to choose life with Israel over death with Allah. Thus far, they can blame only themselves (and their leaders).
Meanwhile, where is the rest of the Arab world? Oh, that's right... Blaming Israel whilst doing exactly Sweet F.A. for the Palestinians. Direct your anger correctly.

Sensitivity Has Two Sides

Yes a child was killed. The death of a child is always a terrible thing. Many children have been killed during the course of this 60 year war. The fact however, is that the child was not targeted. She was killed in a war zone. The driver of the car she was in made a bad choice, specifically trying to evade a roadblock.
This is a far sight different than a suicide bomber blowing up an Israeli school bus, restaurant or religious event.
Intifada is war, and war sucks. The palestinians need to take responsibilty for their bad choices and stop blaming the Israelis for the results of their own obscenities.

Arthur is an obcenity

What is truly obscene is just how low Arthur is prepared to sink in order to defend the indefensible. He throws in a random "suicide bomber blowing up an Israeli school bus, restaurant or religious event" as if the existence of one bunch of murders justifies the actions of another. The fact of the matter remains that Israeli solders making an illegal raid into illegally occupied territories have mistakenly murdered an innocent child (just one of over 3,000 young children killed by Israeli's in Palestine).

Explosive Issue
22.03.2006 21:20
It's not uncommon to have explosives or armed fighters in automobiles. Any driver who has nothing to worry about would stop at a roadblock instead of speeding by it. Sorry, but the soldiers did the correct thing in firing at the auto. It's terrible when a child is killed. War isn't pretty. The IDF managed to capture a van with 7 kgs of explosives today. Do you think the driver of the van would have stopped for a roadblock if he wasn't forced to?

Evil dishonest troll get out of here

Arthur says that any driver who had nothing to worry about would stop at a roadblock instead of speeding by it. Well, the driver of the taxi had nothing to worry about and didn't speed by any roadblock as Ben has already pointed out. Go read the reports again! The IDF soldiers responsible are being investigated for having gone way to far. You wonder why? BECAUSE THEY JUST KILLED AN INNOCENT CHILD. There was no speeding gun tooting, bomb carrying evil do'ers, just a taxi carrying an uncle and his eight year old child.
Arthur wants us to belief that the soldiers were right to do what they did. Why is that? Why is Arthur so incessant about standing up for the murdering Israeli Defense Force? Ben wiped your sorry arse and still you are back for more, repeated the same shit again and again. You think the fact that the allegedly found some explosives in a van is somehow proof that the child had to be killed or that it's okay that the IDF murder Palestinian children while making illegal raids? No, of course not, so fuck off and don't come back you twisted evil piece of worthless shit!
