a) Of course the article description of the monitor/wardens being there to protect the prisoners was bizarre to say the least. If you ever find yourself in durance vile remember, the warden is NOT your friend, not there to protect you but to keep you in custody.
b) Apparently for some time now the monitors have been objecting to deteriorating conditions in the prison and their growing lack of control over the guards. Presumably as a result of the statements by those about to take power that these prisoners would be released the guards had been allowing in unauthorized visitors, givign the prisoners cell phones, etc. >
c) These objections (and warnings that if not addressed they would pull out) were in the form of communications to the Plaestinian authorities. The Israelis were sent copies each time >. I have not seen any of the texts of these, but obviously if there were some along the lines "you order the guards to follow orders so we can continue our role as warden/monitors by March Nth or we are out of here" then it should be obvuious why the Israelis were ready to act the moment they spotted the exodus.
d) It is far less clear why the Palestinians were not prepared for the pullout. Surely they had to realize that if the prisoners were not liberated minutes after the monitors left (and the agreement ended) . Surely they knew the Israelis would act. Of course we need to keep in mind that the Palestinian militants are not united and there are many factions. Perhaps the faction controlling the ground near the prison (before the Israleis arrived) thought it not in THEIR interest that leaders of some other faction be released. Or perhaps even as a unified decision, that if the prisoners couldn't be released as a big political event it was better to suffer the Israelis siezing them for whatever gains could be made from that. Only those conversant with the intricaices of Palestinain power politics should even attempt to speculate. I'm not, even Israeli politics, although fairly open, is too complex for me to understand.

Excuse me? Who are the "thousands" of political leaders who have been executed.
Perhaps point me to a list, or maybe just list the first hundred or so.
Failing that, admit you are a liar and the rest of your drivel is about as credible.
Your love of terrorists, and your hatred of Jews has clouded your ability to look beyond the propaganda at simple facts.
Not that any of this matters of course, UK Indymedia have censored this entire discussion, lest it not make Israel look bad...
