The Promise Club- I send you my wailing
This morning as I will do from this morning forward - I woke and thought of the many mothers around the world who are at this very moment holding their child as it is dying. I thought of the mothers holding them and how they must be feeling, I imagine it is like having your insides ripped apart-there can be no greater pain.
Many would say "Kerry why would you want to think of such sad things each morning as you wake?" To which I say
"It is only when we are game to face these things will we again become human instead of inhuman.
People say " but Kerry you are always so positive and The Wailing is about negative things" To which I say this is probably the most positive thing I will ever do.
The wailing is about facing our faults and then coming up with ways to fix them. All of us are to blame for the inhumanity of this planet. It is only all of us who can fix it. It will only happen when we are game to stop waiting for others to do something about it and do something ourselves.
Today as I woke, I thought about the many people around the world who will join me to wail and to knit the very large blanket we will place around the shoulders of these women in pain.
The first email and only email I have opened so far this morning is this one that fills my heart with joy.
And I say hurry up dawn I am ready to wail.
Dear Gramma Kerry,
It is only 24 hours before you commence the wailing. My friends and I from Ghana will be with you in spirit, we will stretch out our arms in love to hold the warm blanket and we will extend it to as many as we can reach out to.
We will try to visit the website to be part of this historic moment.
All the best to you Gramma Kerry, May the love and warmth that fills your blanket germinate and produce beautiful sweet fruits which our children can enjoy.
With lots of love,
Becky
Together with many others around the world like Caitlin in Ireland who will wail in Dublin and Sarah Ozacky-Lazar, from Ramot Menashe, Israel who will be attending a board meeting of the Alliance for the New Humanity in Rome and hopefully will read the wailing poem, this fills my heart with Joy to know the Alliance will be wailing with us. This is indeed a very positive day for the mothers who have lost their children while I slept. They will know we are working to stop this happening to others and that I know will help ease their pain. The warm blanket Becky mentions that we together will place around their shoulders.
Have a good day, I will as I face the dawn and become more determined to keep my promise to make it a better world for Caitlin and all the children of the world I may not be able to help the mothers who have lost their child while I slept away the night - but I can work to stop this happen to others.
Let the wailing begin
