Official: Hemel Hempstead toxic cloud is safe

Oscar Beard | 13.12.2005 20:18 | Ecology | London | World

Media sources quoting oil and environmental "experts" claim the toxic cloud of burned fuel from the Hemel Hempstead fuel depot is not toxic, therefore nothing to worry about.

So carry on Christmas shopping.

As the flames grew and the thick black smoke billowed into the air, photographs from space showing the massive extent of the toxic cloud, authorities and mainstream media put out notices that the cloud was of no threat to people's health.

That public notice changed within 24-hours. Then we were told, if you see the cloud above you, go indoors and close all doors and windows.

But when it comes to millions of gallons of fuel burning every single day, do we really need an expert to tell us this toxic cloud is lethal, for us and the environment?

They treat us like stupid morons plugged into Eastenders 24-hours a day. All the more reason to "Smash Your TV".

This cloud is the result of tonnes of burning petrol, diesel and aviation fuel. Of course it is dangerous.

Today, Monday 13 December, around 12pm the cloud could be seen skirting North West London. Then the wind changed direction, pulling the cloud directly across Wembley and Harrow, as the photographs show.

The toxic cloud has headed further east in an arc that takes it directly across all of London.

We have also been warned about the possibility of Black Rain contaminated with the fumes. Again if the rain does turn black we are told to stay indoors.

Question: if the rain is toxic, what happens when it hits our water supply?

Indeed. Stay indoors, close all windows and doors, maybe remove an interior door and place it at 45 degrees to an internal wall and hide behind it. Hide under your kitchen table, place your head between your legs and kiss your arse goodbye.

Oh, and try not to breath for the next week.

There is no cause for concern, right?
