GHARDAIA DEMONSTRATIONS.
Dr FEKHAR goes on the chamber of charge.

Dr kamel eddine FEKHAR S.F.F (socialist front of
forces) national secretary in charge of community life
is appearing today in GHARDAIA (southern Algeria)
court where he faces for “criminal charges”.
Detained in Ghardaia since the end of october 2004
,Fekhar was accused to be the main instigator of the
demonstrations having shaked this region of southern
Algeria last october in violation of the country’s
laws.
Charged with grievances linked to illegal
gathering,voluntary burning ,destruction of the state
proprety and obstruction of the public highway
,,Fekhar ‘s affair is dealt with under criminal law
that was contested vigorously by a group of lawyers .
BEN ISSAD ,a well known algerian lawyer ,who claims
that this detention is unlawful wonders about this
temporary detention as his client is well known for
his scrupulous sense of responsibility and discipline.
He relies on the international pact ratified by
Algeria and which deals with the civil and political
rights.
This pact contains the presumption of innocence that
is never respected in the country.
This means that appealing to the temporary detention
is not important and necessary except in the case of
the public dangers.
M Ben ISSAAD refers also to the articles 408 and 396 a
of the penalty code dealing with the above mentioned
offenses.
Othe persons implicated in these demonstrations for
sociam reasons still stagnate in the prison.
