there is a grey area between "conspiracy theory" and "its the structure of society" that tends to make situations more understandable, even "several levels down", such as the covering-up old cock-ups with more (usually cocked-up)cover-ups,
the impact of subcontracting, semi-blind contracts and the acceleration of privatisation on the situation... effectively attaching the profit motive to greater and greater personal, national and global INSECURITY. Not really the "fault" of any one person, but perhaps a bigger factor than any individual, corporation, or country.
Along with TRICKLEDOWN of worst practise ,
SPEED-UP of technological multiplier effects,
and, parallel to and affecting the overt world the ratcheting tendency to squeeze down pay, conditions, scruples, longterm commitment, family or any human values in relation to use-value, control, disposability and deniability.Fooled, betrayed, coerced or unpaid, ideally .
The "if we can make it we must have it" BLINDLY RUSHING FORWARDS WITH NEAR LIMITLESS BUDGETS factor... on "force multiplier" effects.
An institutionalised tendency to prefer amplifying the sound of a ticking bomb to defusing it, and the skills to do so, BIGGER BUDGETS, LONGER REIGNS (sp?), or to see the terrorist in the overturner of moneytables, to be seasonal for a moment.
This is made far more likely by PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY, sub-subcontracting, and sting-agents not to mention the sheer tangled nature of the situation, growing more tangled over time - occasionally almost squeezing out all the real active campaigners even when that isnt intended. Then add "false-flag" groups or individuals who dont really know who they are really working for, or are fooled, or dont care anymore... and people engaged in covering/framing things up that they themselves dont know, by people who were lied to by their predecessors who were under a misapprehension from theirs...
And then what happens when someone joins all this who might be corruptible.
What will happen then.
And...whats a thinktank, daddy? For if unnacountability, stealth, nearly unimaginably advanced technology (the only sort thats much good to keep "ahead of the game", allegedly) - and unquestioned access to slush funds - is a temptation for an individual who might want to have children, or grow much older, or even breathe a few years down the line, those that arent manipulated through addictions, complicity, hard frames or brutalisation, then imagine the temptation for a corporation, say "swords plc" that cannot become "ploughshares plc", because there already is one, and doesnt have loved ones, doesnt care about kids, or need to "breathe the same air" and can exist perfectly well from an offshore island even when that island is sinking, and along with allied "industries" is squeezed by an out of control "financial structure" that "judges" its value/shareprice every day, with or without cause, and is in a position to hire or pressure it to protect the "reputation" - and continuation of corrupt loopholes, scams, waste, rackets and old crimes with the worst infowar and "all the worlds a stage" global theatre that money can blind. And, as ever, the first target is the client.
Until theres a great big technofix for everything... .
Well, theres a "rant", i think you lot call it.
I was going to mention 1912 Nicaragua being a good example , because no-one could blame it on the cold war, and maybe something about disinfo and doublebubble,etc, but i noticed someone at blackbox.org making some sense on that sort of topic, or that"blowback" seems to be fashionable cover for continued puppeteering these days, but unfortunately it does seem an important time for people to have a little more real an understanding of the area, as a set of humans in a set of situations in a set of dynamics, rather than merely a "they". To help get over the "they" thing, WW2 and SOE, OSS, etc is quite helpful a place to start - but, personal accounts not official histories or the whambam-gloss, with the gripes coffee stains betrayals and confusions, and to read "ancient history" discussed semi-knowledgeably, and with purpose,there are some old declssified teaching aids that are still worth a look.
PS this, has, of course, been explained with an almost unimaginable degree of understatement. You probably wouldnt beleive how fast these thumbscrews are now, or the vortex things seem to be spinning into, but thats modernisation... progress really did seem a likely way forward, after the cold war was thawing out, things were beginning to warm up. But somebody seems to have been spinning the clock back on that too.
