Around a thousand people marched through Swansea on saturday to protest at the raacist attack that killed an Iraqi kurdish refugee in early September.Kalan Kawa Karim a 29 year old disabled refugee killed in what police said was a racist assault.
The march was organised by Swansea United Against Racism and was supported by a large number of organisations including the Wales TUC and The Transport and Workers Union.
At the rally in Castle Square Gardens several speakers including Weyman Bennett ,joint secretary of Unite Against Fascism and Leanne Woods from The Stop The War Coalition condemned his killing and called for the maximum unity against the racists and bigots who have done so much to scapegoat and threaten refugees and members of ethnic minotity groups.Osman from the Kurdish community in Swansea spoke at the end to thank all those who had marched and supported the family and friends of Kalan.
