Around 800 people joined a vigil in Swansea on saturday to protest at the racist killing of a 29 year old disabled Iraqi refugee Kalan Kawa Karim.
He was attacked in a late night incident a week ago in the Kingsway are of Swansea and died shortly afterwards.The police have stated that it was a racist attack.
Kalan,who lost his leg in an explosion in Iraq several years ago and was a prisoner odf the Saddam regime has a wife in Iraq.
He fled his country to seek safety in Britain.Two men are being held for questioning by the Swansea police.
The protest vigil was called by local anti racist campaigners in Swansea together with members of the small kurdish community in the city.at his killing.A further anti racist demonstration is being organised in the city for the near future.
Kalan's body is being flown back to Iraq for burial and anyone willing to make a donation to help with the cost should send it to"Awema Karim Appeal" at Barclays Bank70 the Kingsway Swansea.Any money left over after expenes have been paid will be donated to the Red Cross.
