Tories anti-windfarm stance branded 'disgraceful' by Greenpeace

Last edited: 26-07-2004

Speaking about today's announcement by the Tory Party concerning windfarms, Greenpeace energy campaigner Robin Oakley said:

"It is disgraceful, and totally irresponsible, for Michael Howard to try to stop this vital solution to climate change.

"Climate change is the greatest threat facing the planet today. It is already killing 160,000 people every year and billions more of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people will be killed without urgent action.

"Wind power is the only technology ready to deliver clean energy on a massive scale. Every time a wind farm doesn't get built it means more greenhouse gas pollution from the fossil fuel alternatives.

"This is shameful appeal to nimbyism when the vast majority of British people support the building of more wind farms."

Fuck the Nimbies

27.07.2004 10:12

Those same NIMBIES driving back and forth to waitrose in their SUVs to help support the oil industry, probably:) Anyway, to the big landowners - give us the fucking land back - it's ours. Wind farms look alright and so do windmills. Town versus country is still a false dichotomy. It's still the rich versus the poor. Still, the English are fucking stupid and greedy anyway - just look at the sales of the Sun, The Express, and the Guardian ( heh heh ) and the ammount of fuckwits who talk about democracy and don't know what this really means.
With regard to Windfarm Nimbies - move to Sellafield you sad fuckers. ( and go for a daily swim in the Irish sea ). talk about wildlife damage...
