Amnesty International Book Launch: Sex, Love and Homophobia: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Lives
by Vanessa Baird
Foreword by Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Preface by Grayson Perry, Turner prize winner 2003
'Sex, Love and Homophobia: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Lives' will be launched on Thursday 1st July 2004
Grayson Perry
'Here is a book that neither sensationalises nor pathologises the behaviour of people with a minority sexual orientation, a book that is very accessible to young people and is also a moving and serious document of the history, culture and politics of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered world of which I am proud to play a small part.' Grayson Perry, Turner prize winner 2003
'To persecute people for their sexual orientation is to violate their fundamental human rights. All over the world lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people defend their right to be who they are, often at the risk of their lives.' Linda Wilkinson, Chair, Amnesty International UK
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
‘This book illuminates anew the bleak wasteland that is prejudice. It illuminates more clearly than ever that a loving, understanding humanity is sustained by justice ... Sex, Love and Homophobia is a bright light on the path to justice.’ Archbishop Desmond Tutu
'Silver Moon and Foyles are delighted that Amnesty International are launching such an important book and that we can help them celebrate its publication. We fully support this series and greatly respect the work Amnesty International are doing to stop violations of the fundamental human rights of LGBT people around the world.' Liz Poirier, Manager of Silver Moon
