Ex-patriot Australian author and humanitarian explains his support for the Iraqi Resistance. Urges others to follow.

In the wake of growing attacks by the so-called Iraqi "resistance" on Iraqi communists, aid agencies and civilians - including fellow journalists - John Pilger has acknowledged openly his support for the killers and encourages others to follow.

Interviewed in the Australian-based communist news-sheet 'Green Left Weekly', Pilger insisted he had "no choice" but to support the "resistance".

He equates the "resistance" with the "anti war movement".

Interviewer: "Do you think the anti-war movement should be supporting Iraq's anti-occupation resistance?

Plger: "Yes, I do. We cannot afford to be choosy. While we abhor and condemn the continuing loss of innocent life in Iraq, we have no choice now but to support the resistance, for if the resistance fails, the "Bush gang" will attack another country. If they succeed, a grievous blow will be suffered by the Bush gang. ..."

Two Iraqi men died on Thursday evening when a blast almost entirely gutted the Iraqi Communist party's headquarters, the party said in a statement on Friday.

The murders of the Iraqi communists has been linked to the party's involvement in the Iraqi Governing Council.

The ABC today reported the murders of two CNN journalists and their Iraqi translators amongst a string of attacks on Iraqi "soft targets" by elements of the former regime and it supporters.

The attacks come in the lead up to the UN sending a team to Iraq to look into the feasibility of elections before the end of June.

The proposed elections will be the first democratically held elections since Saddam Hussein took power in a cuop over thirty years ago.

Have a nice day.
