As from 11 o'clock today we begin a week of action perhaps longer depending on resources. The plan is to hold a 24 hour picket outside City Hall in solidarity with the prisoners/hunger strikers. All our attention will be devoted to this. We will collect money for the campaign, leaflet everybody who passes and contact media, unions, religious institutions, etc, etc, whatever we can come up with. Much of this action has not been planned. It is very much a case of we turn up and take it from there. In terms of banner making etc that too will be done on the steps of city hall.
We ask anybody who can get involved to please do so, even if it is only to bring a flask of coffee to the activists who are out in the pouring rain. Every little bit helps here.
We feel the urgency of building up the prisoners public profile to a greater level is now crucial because of the seriousness of the situation they are in. Any ideas, comments etc, are welcomed.
