A4E and "Transforming Rehabilitation"

Transforming Rehabilitation is an upcoming Government Contract. A4e are bidding for it as a prime contractor. The truth is that A4e does not have the employees to deliver. So, regardless of any feelings (or rational arguments) one way or another about A4e, there is a clear problem. A4e are seeking to be paid between £5bn and £20bn over the next ten years for doing nothing more than they do for the Unemployed. Read more >>

refuse to collaborate!

Open Letter

This is an appeal to friends, comrades and ‘organisers’ of protests. In light of the mass arrest of 286 anti-fascist protestors on 7th September (and Fortnum and mason, critical mass, BNP Whitehall etc) we appeal to all organisers of protests from whatever organisation to immediately cease from negotiating with the police in any form whatsoever and, for any protests currently being planned, that organisers withdraw immediately from communication with the police.

The police have become the protest organisers. It is they who organise what happens on the day, who goes where, what is said and not said, how the protest acts, behaves, moves and demonstrates. We have now not only a state sanctioned but state organised protest. Be effective and you are liable to mass arrest. Deviate from this meticulous state planning and you’re liable to mass arrest. We must not get used to this! Read more >>

Fracking, Coal and Planning: The Story Of Westfield

Ed Davey the Sec of State for Energy and Climate Change has argued that with a robust regulatory and planning system there will not be environmental damage from Fracking. Here, this view is challenged, by using an example of environmental damage caused by opencast mining at the Westfield site in Fife. This example demonstrates how impotent the planning system is when systems of control break down

This press release from The Loose Anti Opencast Network, about what is currently happening in Scotland, where company bankruptcies have left up to 25 un-restored opencast mines, including Westfield, the subject of a recently published LAON report Read more >>

Cameron hasn't signed Crossrail Step-Free Access EDM.Nor has a Tower Hamlets MP!

Only a handful of MPs have bothered to sign up to the House of Commons Early day Motion [=EDM] supporting the demand that Crossrail stations are made step-free accessible. This is the fact on the UK House of Commons parliament.uk web site at the time of writing 1500 Hrs GMT Thursday 29 August 2013. What a contrast to the Dave Cameron fetish for war fare! He hasn't bothered to sign the EDM either. Nor has any MP from Tower Hamlets, present or recent past! Crossrail has been based at Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets where campaigners handed in the Campaign Demand this lunchtime. Khoodeelaar! signed the DEMAND handed in. Read more >>
