Over 400 march against fur in London

Over 400 anti-fur campaigners took to the streets of Knightsbridge in London on Saturday 27th September, taking a loud and firm anti-fur message right to the heart of the capital's fashion district. As the activists began to gather in Belgrave Square, it was clear this march was going to be even bigger and better that last year's march as the crowd began spilling out into the square. There were speeches from CAFT supporters, as well a guest speech from Adrian Ramsay, deputy leader of the Green Party. Read more >>

2000 Days of Occupation - Hands Off Iraqi Oil action to target Cheney

2000 days of occupation and the oil lobby and neo-conservative right still haven't got what they came for. Iraq's oil is still unprivatised but for how long? With just over 100 days to go until the end of Bush and Cheney's term in office, the crude pair are redoubling their efforts to secure the black stuff for US oil majors. Monday October 13th sees 41 international oil companies meet the Iraqi oil minister in London, to discuss the oil carve up they have waited so long for and which has been such a key factor in the deaths of over a million Iraqis. Lets get out on the streets on Saturday October 11th and remind them an Iraqi and a global movement demands the end to the occupation and their oil grab plans. End the occupation Now, Hands Off Iraqi Oil... Read more >>

EV-EON: Nice Bit Of Subvertising (Shame About The Solutions)

Here’s something nice from a group that brainstormed an idea at the 2008 Climate Camp; EV-EON [ http://www.ev-eon.com]. EON want to build the first of a whole raft of coal-fired power stations in the UK, so these guys decided - and I’m guessing there are a few graphic designers and web bods involved - to make a spoof, which works well.

Ken Livingstone - Thames Water scandal

Ken Livingstone tried to do over water usage in London, he blamed ordinary people and lectured them that they should stop leaving the tap on while brushing or having a long shower meanwhile Thames was losing 915 million litres a day, the regulator, the idiots paid to tell us what they are doing and then do nothing said - enough to fill 366 Olympic-sized swimming pools. He did not do anything about Thames Water and what he did do is a scandal, in London, most of the Victorian pipes in central and East London were bone dry and the problems were with North London, which cannot be fixed with plastic pipes. Thames Water replaced perfectly good cast iron pipes with plastic pipes and they do not even know their shelf life, some people predict 30 years. So you take out something that is perfectly OK, why? apparently Read more >>
