A colourful banner protest was held outside the office of Greenergy International, the UK’s largest biofuel supplier, on Wednesday, 30th January, between 12.30 and 2.30 pm.
This was part of a National Week of Action on Agrofuels in which different groups and organisations across the UK are organising protests against the deforestation, high food prices, human rights abuses and faster global warming caused by biofuels from large-scale monocultures. Over 40 people were present.

A British teenager has been arrested after tying herself to a staircase at the Japanese Embassy in London in a protest over whaling, she said. Sophie said last night: "I honestly think that me having a criminal record is not a big price to pay when what the whales are going through is so much worse."

Protest against E-on, the company behind the Kingsnorth coal fired power station
3pm, outside E-On London offices, 100 Pall Mall, nr Trafalgar Square. Protest organised by Revolution, LSE student Greens, supported by Campaign Against Climate Change and Rising. E-on have recently got planning permission from Medway council for a new coal fired power station at Kingsnorth in Kent and the application is now sitting on Gordon Brown's desk awaiting his approval. The Kingsnorth plant threatens to be the first in a new wave of coal-fired power stations – madness in the light of the escalating climate crisis.

Whilst boarding the Japanese wailing ship to deliver a letter, two protesters from the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irving were kidnapped and held hostage. Benjamin Potts 28, an Australian citizen and Giles Lane, 35, a citizen of Great Britain are being held hostage on board the whaling vessel. Both men were assaulted and then tied to the railings of the whaler. They were then moved and tied to the radar mast by the whalers.

Following on from this year's successful 900-mile Nuclear-Free Future Walk from Dublin to London, organised by Footprints for Peace, the same group will be staging another this year from London to Geneva, through France. The UK stretch will go from London to Portsmouth, starting on 26 April, the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

Proposals for the Eco Warriors to try to save humanity from extinction in a global warming catastrophe by lending support to a Children's Revolution in the villages near Heathrow Airport that are being threatened with demolition to make way for the planned third runway have been circulated by the Earth Aid Environmental Campaign.
An appeal has been issued for all the environmental campaigners in Britain to come together urgently and work with the local people in the Sipson Harmondsworth and Harlington villages to create a futuristic high tech eco-village to set an example of the way forward to ensure the survival of future generations.

On Saturday 8th December 2007, the Campaign for Eco-Veg*nism set out to coordinate the "biggest ever mobilisation of vegetarians and vegans on environmental grounds" at the National Climate March in London. We called on veggies and vegans to join a Veg*n Climate March, which in effect would be a `veg*n block` within the main march. See report below.
