Wealthy Protest Against Siena Airport Expansion

Peter Marshall | 14.01.2008 11:28 | Ecology | London | World

As well as the SOCPA event you may have noticed another demonstration taking place in Trafalgar Square on Saturday. It was against the expansion of an airport, not Heathrow, but at Siena, Italy.

If you had enjoyed glorious summers in your parents (or grandparents) villas around Siena (where Tony Blair used to get his free holidays - and the guy who lent him the villa is involved in developing the airport) you probably wouldn't want all sorts of riff-raff coming in on cheap flights either, and would have been there outside the National Gallery too:-)

I'm opposed to any airport expansion, so good luck to them. But lets hope they can get back from lazing in the sun in Siena for the protests that are coming over Heathrow.
