The recent changes to higher education funding make revenue generation more important than ever for universities and colleges, and student accommodation can also serve as bed and breakfast and/or conference accommodation outside term, helping institutions supplement their incomes and continue providing excellent educational and research services. A downside to this efficient use of resources is that university accommodation offices are often inundated with requests for storage from students struggling to find a place to keep their belongings while they are away. With limited space, universities often have to refuse these requests, leaving students to find their own storage solutions which are often fragmented and difficult to organise, ranging from renting a van, buying boxes and renting space at a self-storage company, to relying upon friends and neighbours for storage and transport. The few student-dedicated storage companies that exist operate operate only on a local level and with very rigid limited services, forcing students to choose from limited pick-up and drop-off dates for instance.
Student Storage Box's national network of storage hubs and couriers allows the provision of very competitively priced, completely flexible storage solutions either directly to students or via university/college accommodation offices at preferential rates. After a highly successful trial period during summer 2011, Student Storage Box is now in a position to offer its services on a national level.
