Retaliations were felt all over Palestine with several government buildings attacked.
Monday saw a further day of strikes against the security forces' actions and the withholding of pay for state employees since the EU and US placed sanctions on the democratically elected Hamas government. One man was shot in Jericho while participating in the strike.
I passed several closed government buildings in Ramallah today. Most shops in Ramallah were also closed.
At the same time Israel has enforced closures in the West Bank due to the Yom Kippur holiday. Several roads around Jerusalem were closed with police tape and large numbers of Israeli police were visible in East Jerusalem, Palestinian residents of Hebron were barred from the area surrounding the Ibrahimi mosque to allow illegal Israeli settlers to worship.
