"The Ride of Silence is a silent bicycle ride intended to commemorate and honour cyclists killed and injured by motor vehicles. It is also intended to raise awareness of cyclists and cycling, and assert our right to be able to share the roads safely without fear of death and injury.
Rides should be conducted in silence as far as possible. All participants should try to wear a black armband, or alternatively a red armband if they have personally been injured by a motor vehicle. It is not intended to be a traditional protest: wear your normal clothes and do not bring banners or other protest materials. The power of the event is in the silence of the participants..."
