around fifty peace protestors including some 'rhythms of resistance' sambaistas gathered outside the high court in the strand this morning to leaflet passers-by and make some noise. the aim was to draw attention to important issues of human rights and the right to dissent in the wake of police actions at fairford last year when three coaches of protestors from london were turned back while on their way to a lawful protest at the base.

A new Media Hacklab is getting started in the east end of London. Based at the Freedom Press bookshop and social centre, it will be an open access computer lab with internet access. Going beyond the preponderance of internet cafes, a Hacklab is a political space used for alternative media, the use and development of free software and other emancepatory techologies, skill sharing and collective learning, community projects and anything else we can organise. The projects that happen there will depend on the commitment of those involved.

This is an invitation to a convergence of London-based media workers, artists, techies, DIY'ers, producers, writers, culture jammers and mischief-makers for a chat about the concept of an Indymedia London project and how we might collaborate and shape it. The convergence will start in the evening of Friday, Jan 30th with an exchange on the recent world summit of the information society event in Geneva. Saturday is entirely dedicated to info, visions, workshops and plans for Indymedia London.
