Transforming the threatened villages near Heathrow Airport into a giant eco-village could help save them from being demolished for the planned third runway according to environmental campaigners.

Over 600 students turned out to debate a motion on Israeli apartheid at the London School of Economics Students' Union (LSESU) Union General Meeting (UGM) last Thursday, 24 January 2008. Students packed the Old Theatre and spilled out into the corridors for the motion, entitled 'Make Apartheid History', which condemned Israel's Apartheid regime and called for the LSESU to lobby the school and the National Union of Students (NUS) to divest from Israeli and international companies that support the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.

A report published by Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT) has revealed that arms companies have paid for the fees and living expenses of seven students at the London School of Economics (LSE) to the tune of £83,706 since 2001. The report also reveals that between 1998 and 2004, the School received funding totalling at least £861,653 from several arms companies for research projects that it has carried out during the period.

The London School of Economics has backtracked on promises to students after a long-awaited meeting with Director Howard Davies, by refusing to publish a statement which acknowledged the Palestinian Right to Education. Despite explicit protests from students that he should not be in attendance, controversial LSE Council Chair, Lord Grabiner of Aldwych, insisted on being present at the meeting and stifled debate over the crucial issue.

Today, Thursday 15 November the UK government will deport Meltem Avcil, a Kurdish refugee who will turn 14-years-old on 21 November.
A protest was called yesterday by SOAS Detainee Support Group outside the German Embassy to call on German government to refuse entry to Meltem.

Penarth Marina in Cardiff Bay Wales is 20 years old. It is run by Quay Marina Ltd. The major directors are former Crest Nicholson staff. Saturday 10th November the company celebrated with a champagne dinner at Penarth Yacht and Rowing Club. Preceded by an open letter, the Shalom Family, evicted with their own houseboat home 4 years ago, on a jumped up charge of trespass, presented themselves too!
