Art & Activism Caravan: Athens swings to radical samba!

The Art and Activism Caravan inspired a group of Polytecnic students into creating a radical samba band. The newly formed band successfuly played at the big student march at Propylaia where 20,000 people opposed to the commercialisation of education. (June 8th)

Greek students occupy universities

For the past 5 weeks students have started squating universities with the number of occupations increasing day by day. The students are also organizing major demos throughout greece. At polytechnic university there is an international art and activism caravan which presents alternative ways of protesting, they are supporting the student mobilizations.

AA Caravan starts workshops with students in Athens, Greece

Decorating the Universities courtyard...
The AA Caravan has started its travels and is currently working with the students at the Politecnik University in Athens. Workshops include video activism (in which a video is being worked on about the occupied universities and colleges around Greece), Samba (Rythms of Resistance), Rebel Clowning, recyling and banner making workshops. Various things are prepared to take part in the national student demonstration on Thursday June 8th.

Creative working the way forward - a photo report

More and more artists within Nottingham seem to join the recycling art craze, as tetra-packs, plastic bages and cans are brought to new life. In the last few weeks various workshops were organised in the Sumac Centre in Forest Fields and the Old School Hall in Sneinton. The Rubbish Day Out in Sneinton was organised to raise awareness of recycling and waste issues. Here a collection of photo's from people who think creative workshops are fun and the way forward to promote environmental and social issues.
