The Brazil after approving the Law of Civil Marco Internet, which served as inspiration for other countries, is advancing in technology and in areas related to medicine.

Proof of this was the Federal Medical Council Resolution created in 2011 (CFM Resolution No. 1,974 / 11), which deals with Advertising Medical and Web Design.

The resolution was created three years before the Civil Marco Internet Law,
It has been sanctioned by President Dilma April 2014.

With the increasing number of patients seeking for symptoms of disease,
and replace the old phone books in search of a doctor, it was necessary, the creation of a virtual identifier, so that the customer was sure that the site where it is accessing is in accordance with the resolutions of the CFM, and the Law of Civil Marco Internet.

Nowadays, patients are accessing more and more information
exclusive to physicians via the Internet, and it is becoming easier.

The downside is that in most cases, patients do not know how to give you
the information received through the Internet.

In Brazil, there are more than 70 suffixes in the Internet, among the best known are the ".com", ".org.br" And ".gov.br" but there is a range of other endings as:
.fst.br for Physiotherapists, .ind.br for Industries and etc ...

With this in mind, was created .oft.med.br suffix for Doctors Ophthalmologists, Clinics, Offices, hospitals, laboratories and Ophthalmic Equipment Manufacturers.

To register an address type: www.mysite.oft.med.br, the registrant must meet necessary requirements, so you can give more credibility and authenticity
the address.

Thus, as the suffix ".edu.br" for Higher Education and Research Institutions, where they, They must prove through a certified and registered at the Ministry of Education, applicants addresses under the suffix ".oft.med.br" must prove its link with Optometric Medicine, presenting some kind of registration in the State Councils and Federal Medical, or Council Brazilian Ophthalmology.

For manufacturers and laboratories, is required legal guardian.

With this new type of suffix (Top Level Domain) Professionals in the field will be found more easily in search engines and patients will have greater security to find and maintain contact the chosen professional.

It is a form of Digital ID, which brings benefits to all, and so the relationship
between professionals and patients, may improve, as with uncontrolled searches and sites without any kind of identification with the proven Ophthalmology, this relationship has cooled.

It should be emphasized that the suffix ".com", despite being the most appearances in Brazil is not the only and is Generic category, ie any individual or company can register an address onany topic without showing somehow connection with what is being posted on its website.
