Svetlana Lokhova’s award of £3.2 compensation against the Sberbank CIB
is interesting. The tribunal awarding the sum made a number of appropriate comments hitting hard on the sexist nature of the harassment that went on in that bank.
Svetlana Lokhova’s award of £3.2 compensation against the Sberbank CIB
is interesting. The tribunal awarding the sum made a number of appropriate comments hitting hard on the sexist nature of the harassment that went on in that bank.
But how many other claimants against harassing employers get to see the same kind of awards?
Not many.
In fact the incidence of such awards are very rare.
One reason being the tribunal system acts as a deterrent against claimants.
The only constant factor is the trading lawyers who never lose. They get their fees.
So while it is a good news news for this claimant, for the unpublicised large numbers of victims of sexual and other harassment, the future isn’t very bright with the Tribunals.
Something very drastic needs to happen where tribunal claims are processed faster and the claimants can make their case without being obstructed by mountains of irrelevant paper work.
What Party has such a programme in their Manifesto?
None at the time of writing this just under a month before polling day!
Unlike Ms Lokhova, most other victims of harassment will not get their say. Let alone their money.
Their lives will get from bad top worse.
Not very British,is it when people have to suffer like that?
And the tribunal system or the legal system has no remedies for most.
